Just for kicks, I've been accumulating all the home releases in the Ridge Racer series. Have I missed anything?

Ridge Racer (PS1)
Ridge Racer Revolution (PS1)
Rage Racer (PS1)
Ridge Racer Type 4 + Ridge Racer Turbo Bonus Disc (PS1)
Ridge Racer V (PS2)
Ridge Racer 64 (N64)
Ridge Racer 64 I mean DS HA HA (DS)
Ridge Racer (PSP)
Namcollection (PS2) Has a port of PS1 Ridge Racer, and it's headed to me in the mail right now.

Is R: Racing Evolution considered to be part of the Ridge Racer series? I've got it for PS2, but don't really feel the need to get it for XBox or Gamecube. Heh. And there was never a PS1 version of Pocket Racer, correct?

Does Rage Racer count? Also, the PSP has a Ridge Racer.

yeah I think rage racer was apart of that series.

Yup. That's why I listed it. 3rd from the top. ;-)

Too bad there's no home version of Rave Racer to add to the list. Heh.

R:Racing Evolution is sort of a Ridge Racer game, but a diversion from the typical formula. It actually turned out to be one of my favorite racers. It's a massive game that takes one HELL of a long time to get to 100% completion. I still haven't unlocked any of the secrets yet. I've had it on all three consoles and it's graphically identical on each. I'll always have at least one copy of it around. I'd say if you have it on the PS2 then good enough. At least it's in there, part of the series or no.

I was wondering why I've never seen a Rave Racer in the wild. Thanks for clearing that up so that I can stop searching!!!

It's a damn shame, too. Awesome game...I always dump some tokens into it when I see it at the arcade. Just like Scud Race, it's a case of "The one that got away" :(

At least it's emulated in a playable manner in Viva Nono so that anyone with a halfway decent computer can play it at home...but god damn do I wish there was a playstation port :(

Me too, i am even considering buying the single player arcade version.

At least the Rave Racer tracks are in PSP Ridge Racer. The game engine is totally different, but it's better than nothing.

I've heard from multiple reliable sources that there's a fully playable Dreamcast version that was about 90% complete, but never released for whatever reason. God, if someone could just dig that out of the depths of Sega's vaults... Hey, Half Life and Propeller Arena got leaked releases. Heh.

EDIT: Found a link to the video. Downloading now...

man, that's just even more depressing.

Plus the proto-collector market right now seems to be anti-sharing for whatever reason, so it's unlikely that something like this would leak out anytime soon. IIRC the Half Life leak was an internal leak, so it's more or less a special case.

Namcollection (PS2) Has a port of PS1 Ridge Racer, and it's headed to me in the mail right now.

Oh my. How did this sneak under my radar? And how terrible that I can't find any hint that this is even being considered for release in America? I mean it has both Klonoa and Ridge Racer on one disc! That's 2/3 the reason to own a PS1 (the other 1/3 being Castlevania: SotN)! IMHO.

Does anyone have any info on a possible US release. And are these straight "ports" or maybe are we at least entitled to a resolution upgrade?

As far as I know, they're straight PS1 ports. Each game has some special stuff along with it. For example, Ridge Racer and Mr. Driller both have super play videos included. Hopefully my copy will show up this week so I can find out for sure, but this is Playasia's cheap shipping we're talking about.

They're straight ports, though for Ridge Racer there's a couple of awesome replay videos included. Overall the pack is pretty lacking, though. For the $10 that Play-Asia was selling it for the other week, I'd say it's worth it :)

Oh well. I was hoping for at least 480i. I already own Ridge Racer and Klonoa, so there's no real reason for me to pick this up. And there's always the small fact that I can't play PS2 imports.
