Here's my contender for 2003's Weirdest Post On The DP Forums distinction.

Do you have a really scummy, dirty, or even flat-out demolished console or controller? Do you have a digital camera?

If so, I need a good picture or two of your crappiest-looking hardware. Arcade cabinets, joysticks, and trashed systems are all welcome to participate. Take pictures at weird angles, or head-on - be creative. Before you send it to the junk heap or cannibalize it for parts, snap a digital photo or two.

And why, you ask, do I want the crappiest-looking stuff you've got? They're going to be "re-buried"...and become fossils. Just a little project I'm working on.

PM me for my e-mail address. This is gonna be fun. :D

i opened up an old atari to clean it, and this thing had this growing mold, and what looked like 20 year old fritos in it, i almost up chucked all over the place, had to soak the bottom in bleach.
:puke:
I wish I took pictures, but at that time........uk.

oh well continue

Now I wish I hadn't chased that roach out of that mud-caked Super Mario Bros. 3 cartridge.

I can imagine what might be on a dedicated Tumble Pop controller..

Anyway, I don't have anything dirty. I'm a nut about restoring and maintaining the cleanliness of my junk.

LOL I hadn't realized what tales I'd be hearing from this particular request. Maybe I should've added that Just Plain Broken will do just fine. :)

I'll try to get you a picture of my coin'op Jungle Hunt I just got given for free a few weeks back. Truly a sight to behold. A picture doesn't do it justice though: It smells like piss (even the boards). If I can't get the thing cleaned up before Summertime, I'm going to throw it away.

The thing looks like it sprouted wheels and went four-by-fouring. And the monitor is completely busted up because the people who had it before I did used it for target practice with live ammo.

Good grief. As much as I hate it when people do goofy stuff like that, that's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for here. Thanks!

Here ya go man!: http://pluh.com/members/maxlords/Dsc00025.jpg

Now the face of that controller is so sticky you have to shake it from your hand to drop it, and EVERY turbo switch was broken into pieces and that's what the little tape balls are so I don't lose the parts. I didn't do that to it though..I got it that way from a friend who asked me to try and fix it. So far..a lost cause.

My worst looking console is my TG16.. it's got a cigarette burn on it from someone. Luckly i got it at a flee so it wasn't like Ebay "mint"

LOL! That's a classic description!!!!

(Sad about it, though. That'd be a hell of a game to have. Good luck with the fix-er-up.)

PM me your home mailing address because I'm just going to throw the thing away. It's not even worth salvaging. nothing is going to work and it's really rancid so I'm going to haul it to the dump this week. But I'll snap some pics and send them to you if and when I ever get them developed.

I once found 3 or more LIVE roaches inside an Intellivision console that I got in a flea market! X_x
