Does anyone know of any good software out there where you can keep track of your collection and inventory it?
Thank You

Yeah, I moved back to Excel recently, too. Just can't beat it! And with over 600 games, and plenty of hardware, magazines, etc, I'm not switching again!

Collectorz.com game collector software is quite useful for this task, it includes (graphical) statistics, custom fields etc.

I was thinking of using it, but as the mac version has been pulled ack and back and back, so I decided to start using Excel which also offers statics, only no graphics, but there is room for product-numbers and everything else I wanna add.

I wish there was something as good as DVDProfiler (http://www.intervocative.com/) or Delicious Monster (http://www.delicious-monster.com/) :(
edit - Especially since it seems like the UPC entering in GameCollector doesn't work anymore and the trial version is way crippled :( Don't know if it'd be worth the time spent trying to manually enter all of this crap in :(

This was perfect software until they pulled AllGameGuide as an info source. Now you pretty much have to enter them all by hand-which I guess isn't so bad considering many folks use Excel as an alternative. But if your collection is large, you'll be spending a loooong time with it.
I'm still using mine, and I've devised a way to create collections for peripherals, magazines, strategy guides, and other game-related stuff.

Since you can "create translations" for DVD Profiler, perhaps we could change the interface text to something more gaming-relevant. Would that suffice, do you think?

You still lose the ability to enter information in just by the UPC, which imo is one of the main advantages. Simply hammer in a few numbers and it automatically downloads all of the information along with front and back covers.
Now if they expanded their database to support videogames in addition to DVDs...why shit, I'd buy the program all over again. Been using DVDProfiler for years now and it just shows how painful other methods of cataloging collections really are.
One of the cooler features is when you have it recommend a movie for you to watch. It always picks a winner :(

Sir, I believe the search is over!
I've found a Windows alternative to Delicious Library. Introducing... MediaMan (http://www.imediaman.com/)! I'm going to download a trial copy now. It looks awesome!
I look forward to oodles of mesetas ;)

It only uses Amazon as a data source. Same as Collectorz.
Both are pretty worthless for anything Pre-Current gen.
I was working with the collectorz folks to tap into my site's database, but they got a little too greedy with wanting to own the data, so it fell apart at the 11th hour.
If anyone here knows how to code and can whip up a application, I'd love to have a free program out there to compete with the pay software.

don't we have some skilled coders in here? (oh well, i guess i should be one, but i am not (yet) ). A DP tool would be awesome, we couldn't use the existing DB though as we have one entry for mulitple UPCs currently. But i really don't think that's much of a problem, if some people contribute what they have we'd have a pretty good listing within a few months.

I've actually been working on a system that runs on a WinCE palm device. I based it loosely on the data that's stored in the DP database with the hope that someday I'd be able to hook into the DB and retrieve price/rarity info. Till then, it's just a small app that I can take with me and have immediate access to my collection.
The only problem with it is that I'm using a full blown SQL Anywhere database as the backend, so licensing becomes an issue if I were to try to distribute it.
If anybody knows of a free db for WinCE that supports ODBC, I can switch it over to use that pretty easily.

How bout a private one then. The one request I had in your submissions for my site was to provide more detail... beyond that I'm not sure why you have a beef with me.

Is WinCE 32-bit?
MySQL is free and supports ODBC.

It's a subset of 32bit Windows, so it may work. I just need to check the footprint of MySql. Right now my entire db engine is under 3 mb with the db itself weighing in at just over a meg. Not much data in it yet, but it shouldn't grow too much over about 20 mb with all my games in it.
If MySql fits, i'll give it a shot. Thanks!

I've always been interested in trying out collectorz.com but the price is ridiculous. How about free? I could see maybe paying $5-$10 for it, but that's about it.
I don't use any software now, the only thing I HAVE used, and liked, was cart commander.

I will do that! It will be a week or so before I get any free time to look into working on it more, but I'd love some input on what I've got from someone else.

Just took a quick look at EGM. Seems decent, if a little clunky. I'm currently toying with... writing my own in Delphi or PHP/MySQL, or buying MediaMan. Yet, Excel works fine. So... I don't know!

While I have not used it yet , I thought Digitpress had it's own collection tracking tool ? But maybe you are asking for a tool to track everything you have ? (CD'S , DVD , ect...?)
As far as game tracking tools go.....
I use the one provided at www.rfgeneration.com

Yeah, that's good, but I meant for something like my old Nintendo Power, PSM, and WWF Magazines.
