I stood on my Xbox today...so I can confirm it can hold up at least 160 pounds with no problem.

Does anyone know the maximum weight that can be put on top of that thing? Built like a tank...

Ok first off, why the fuck did you stand on your xbox?!?

As for the question itself i think the bix could handle 200 lbs. Probably more.

You're right that it's built like a tank, and it's made from good hard plastic with supports in all the right places and it's big so the force of your weight is spread out over a larger area. Maybe even more.

I may run mine over with my car soon. I'll try to estimate the poundage it took before going bye bye. F*^king thing has audio issues. Cables were swapped w/ my friends, not that. System cleaned kept as dust free as possible. Should nt be a heat issue.

My guess: don't know why, but i'll say 285 lbs.

Well, it makes sense. More weight can be distributed across its surface because it's so hug-*bricked*

I was bored...and it was a bet with a friend. I bet him that my Xbox could hold my weight.

I won :D

I won :D

Imagine if you'd lost though @_@

I've stood on mine before too. It was on the floor and I was trying to reach something above me. Didn't realise untill after I stepped off that without looking I'd mistaken my xbox for a particularly large catalogue or something.

Hmmm, I sense a challenge here! Closest to guess the correct answer should win a prize... But who will donate their Xbox to the name of science???

Anyone seen this? Goes to show how strong our beloved consoles are:

Its all about distribution of weight. Its a pretty freaking hefty console, so I'm sure it could withstand 300+ pounds without anything being affected.

I had a quick go! I put a plain piece of A4 paper on top, and everything is okay at the time of writing! More amazing news to follow shortly! :P

I just gave it a go. It took my weight, which is about 110 lbs, but I made sure to distribute my weight by standing only on the ridges along the side (I'm not stupid enough to stand in the middle!)

I then shoved another Xbox on top, and aftera bit of creaking, it held, so we now know it can withstand a few tonnes! Awefully ricketty though

Well I wanted to get in on the action here so I pulled out my Xbox and stood on it. After it seemed to hold I decided to try a small jump...

My foot broke right through the middle and crushed the innards...

I just tried starting it up and nothing

What was the point of this thread again x_x

Roll up, roll up ladies and genteeeeeeeeeel-men! Looks like we have a weeeeeeee-neeeeeer!

Congrats, you won, except it wasn't a competition to see who would be the first to destroy their Xbox. So sorry, no prizes today.

Maybe you should also consider cutting down on those Double bacon McChicken Big King Kentucky Burger Mac's...

Nintendo's consoles are built like tanks. It was obvious the GameCube would win.

I dont know if this has been said, because I didn't bother reading the whole thread but,

Who cares if it can hold 200 lbs? I'd rather know if it can survive a high drop to the ground. Xplay did a demonstration on this, and the gamecube won as the strongest system.

I firmly beleive that the dropped box would still work just fine. The thing is built like a tank all you would have to do is plug the front back in.

I have to disagree because of the hard drive. The shell could withstand the impact, but that's a standard PC hard drive in there and I know from experience that a head crash on the hard drive will likely send it out of commission, and that can happen easily from a relatively small drop.

I second that; but I'm willing to donate all my mesetas (not alot, I agree) to whoever makes a vid of them dropping their (previously) working xbox from the 2nd floor :P

If it's running that is. If the system is off and the read-write arm properly parked the head should be in a safe area. I haven't opened my xbox HDD up so i can't say if it just parks the head in a safe spot or ramps it off the platter, but i do know that you shouldn't have a head crash with a a powered down xbox. Although shit does happen so don't think that i'm encouraging anyone to do it. Dropping an Xbox is not something you want to do.
