18X24 Acrylic on canvas...(chose acrylic because of all the masking) Artist:David Rushbrook(me)
This took around 30 hours of work, total(masking is a pain) to get this to look clean...anyway, the photos came out a little yellow, so if the colors look slightly off, thats why.
I am raising money for an engagement ring , so post up your offers...This will probably end up on ebay, depending on the level of interest here...

yes i take requests. Depending on how this does, I would seriously consider doing others. Its just a matter of making it worth the time it takes to do these.
Masking takes the bulk of the time, and also touch ups...i go back and touch up all the places that aren't quite straight lines...obviously there are imperfections, but some need to be left, just so its not a direct print that anyone could get off a computer, out of the printer.
anyway, email me if you do have a request and maybe we can work something out. Davidrush85@yahoo.com.

Did you measure it out before you painted it? Those squares look very straight.
I used to paint but I stopped because I wasn't doing as well as I wanted.
But I might start again and just measure out and paint pixelated video game characters. I was into surrealism before I stopped. I had a bunch of weird stuff and people commented on how "stupid" and "ugly" it was....so I stopped painting.
Any painting tips?

I don't know anything about art. What's a ballpark price for something like this?

Yes i did measure it out, i start with a version in photoshop first, that is exactly like I want the painting to turn out, then measure it out, and draw all the squares, then masking and painting each color individually, then touching up , and painting some more...As for tips, i dont think im really qualified to give them, but i'd say never let anyone elses opinions hold you back-stick with it.
and as for a ball park price, I put around 30 hours into this, and at 5 dollars an hour thats about 150 dollars which isnt even minimum wage...so id say somewhere in that range, give or take.
Probably gonna put it up on ebay soon, tho, so if u read this late, ill put a link up to the auction...otherwise make me an offer.

May I say, excellent work, I would love to own such a wonderful piece. Have you seen the "8 bit artist" on myspace? He has many many drawings of 8 bit NES characters.
