I'm one of the few just getting into Devil May Cry. I hadn't read/seen a bad thing about it but I gotta say I'm not too impressed. It's pretty to look at & I love the genre/rating but it doesn't live up to the hype. Nothing in it has "wowed" me yet.
I'm using a walkthru playing on "Easy-Auto" & am about halfway done. Last night I got stuck- not on a puzzle or boss- but JUMPING!!! I wasted 1/2 hr trying to Air Hike to a ledge by a waterfall. I gave up in frustration (plus hearing the same musical phrase over about 50 times!) I consider myself an avid, able gamer, but I haven't been this PO'ed since I broke BOTH a DualShock2 & a game in a fit of rage (I've learned my lesson). I have only a few hours/week for gaming, so each & every minute counts- I can't waste them, especially on overhyped games that just ain't that great!

Anyone agree?

Here's an idea: play it without the walk through, and on normal.
Here's another one: if the secret missions are too tough for you, skip them.

OT: This is one of the best post topics I've read in ages! LOL
Carry on.

it was overrated, but it was still a damned good game.

This reminds me of one of my recent trips to EB. The clerk was going *on and on* to a customer about putting money down for DMC2.

"It's gonna be *huge*."
"You've *got* to guarantee yourself a copy."
"You're going to *love* this game"
"Blah blah blah."

I was *this* close to snapping and telling the kid that the game isn't the be all and end all and it will surely be available everywhere come release day. It was as if the clerk got commission or something.

As for the game itself: I've never been sold on these games (or Onimusha, and I've heard EB guys rave about that one too). Some day I'll pick 'em up when they're under $15 used and give 'em a go but I certainly won't pay full price for 'em.

The PAL version which I played is supposed to be fucked, slower movement etc.. And the easy mode isnt playing at all I fnished it without a memory card by playing to near end and finished the last 3-4 levels in the morning. Theres new enemies and its quite chellenging in normal which is the way its ment to be played. I didnt think much of this title when I played the demo but until this little kid who comes to play sometimes on my house started playing and commenting how the character might say I realised what a fun stress reliever this game really is, just like Quake 3. The quality is above normal but nothing special.

I agree with all negative things said here.
I would just like to add the horrible camera to it. It was worst in the first fight with that lava spicer. The camera is on the other side of the cathedral and you're supposed to hit the spider in his head. How can I see what his head is from that distance? I can barely see my own character. It's terrible.

It's just one of those capcom games that have planned 2 sequals before the first one is finished. It's impossible to expect something good from an attitude like that.
