I'd like to get something for my wife to display at work for our upcoming 9th wedding anniversary. Flowers are a definite but I was thinking along the lines of a new Monitor Critter that will sit and watch her as she works. Teddy Bears are old hat, she's already got a bunch of Beanie Babies inhabiting her cube but then it hit me: she loves Animal Crossing. What if there were stuffed animals based on those characters?

Scouring the web I discover that there are indeed A.C. plush (along with really cool plastic playsets and figurines). However, I have no idea how soft they are, how cheesily built they are etc. So I ask my fellow DP people, does anyone have one of these critters and how good are they?

Thanks!

I have an AC "Slider" plush (The little dog playing the guitar at the intro to the game; that introduces you to the town.). He's so cute! I crack up every time I hear Slider "talking" in the game.

I got him on eBay a few week ago. Supposedly.. he's a UFO prize from Japan and has the tag and IS licensed by Nintendo. There was a whole series of these plushes (including the "boy" & "girl" player characters); but they are rather rare. The UFO catcher plushes stand about 8 inches tall.. and.. since they were UFO prizes.. only available in Japan. There was a 6" tall series sold in the states and they vary somewhat from the UFO series. Slider is definitely the cutest.. and hence.. is hard to come by and they average about $25 to $50.. or more.. on eBay. Just do a search for "Animal Crossing plush" on eBay and if there's anything available it should pop up.. but they aren't very common so you may not get a hit.. set up a search.

BTW.. I've searched for these EVERYWHERE else online but never came up with anything since the game was released so long back.. most of them are in the hands of collectors by now. The Slider plush sits up very easily on his own (and would on top of a monitor) since he's setting on a barrel.. playing his guitar. I'll see if I can find a picture of him and post it.

Oh yeah! Almost forgot! In answer to your query.. the UFO plushes are VERY well made, detailed, and soft.. made out of a sort of fine "velour" (NOT furry).
