I was just wondering if there was any kind of unofficial or official schedule for the releasing of new versions of the DP Guide? Is a new one released every year, every three years or only whenever everyone has the time to put one together?

Actually I was going to ask Joe about that, but hopefully if he sees this thread, he'll pop a reply in.
It's been scheduled and put back before. Indeed a few people I know don't think there will ever be another print guide, it will be solely online only from now on. It kinda makes sense, but on the other hand, having a printed version is great for carrying around (and indeed, several times at Eurocon last weekend people were asking if the one copy lying about for reference purposes was for sale!).
But I'm sure whatever the situation is, we will be let known :)

It would be a shame if there was never another paper version of the guide. I know that it takes an awful lot of time for Joe and the guys to make but I'd be willing to pay more for it in the future. Its definately worth it to me.
Besides, how are the regulars going to continue answering pricing questions in the forums by saying "Buy the guide, it's worth it" if it becomes extremely outdated?
Perhaps annual updated pdf versions can be sold and emailed to buyers. That would remove all of the publishing and printing issues for Joe and the gang.

As far as I remember hearing (rambling wise) The Classic guide was up next for a facelift and general update. With Joe's store and all that good stuff about to happen it might be on hold for a bit, but since the main infrastructure is there, I dont think it would take all that long (as compared to the the full ground up that the Advanced guide needed for the publishing) to prep the next guide.

I read and use the guides all the time. I would hate to see only online versions.
I agree, making the guide online-only would be a bit of a shame. I use mine extensively for answering questions, determining buying price, and for keeping track of what I do (and do not) have. There's no way to do game lookups online while you're at a garage sale or flea market!
Furthermore, while I mean no disrespect, the online guide's uptime has been.. shall we say.. less than impressive.
I have no problems paying more for the guide if that's what it'll take. Those guides are both *literally* worth their weight in gold.

The original guide does need some updating. There use to be an addendum in pdf format that you could dl off the master list. I can't seem to find it or I'd link it here.

I would definetly buy another one if they came out with it. My guess is the rarities are pretty acurate in the last guide, the only thing that would really change is the prices.

Sounds like someone needs to invest in high speed internet and a wireless network card for their laptop LOL

I was just curious to see if anyone has heard anything regarding the classic guide? I would love to start working on the new edition and am on standby and ready to help. Has anyone heard from Joe yet?

I'd like to release a new CLASSIC guide before the end of the year. I will be contacting the editors from the classic guide sections over the next two weeks so we can build a timetable.

I really think that AdamG's (ABPositive...whatever) DP collectors's top 100 list should be included in the book. I think it would be nice to throw in something like that which is personal to our nice little site!
I also REALLY want to write a "lore" story. :D
