It is my sad duty to inform you all that we believe forum regular Bargora has passed away.
Earlier this month, Bargora stopped logging into the forums. After Googling Bargora's real name, fellow forum member Kid Fenris stumbled across what appears to be Bargora's obituary.
http://www.legacy.com/cleveland/LegacySubPage2.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonID=15173480
PDF has done further cross-referencing and it looks like the information in the obituary matches information Bargora has posted here on the forums. The picture from the obit appears to be the same person in this photo of Bargora (back row, 2nd from left).

Our thoughts and prayers are with Brian's family. Those wishing to make contributions in his honor should do so to the Cleveland Zoo. Information for the zoo is in Brian's obituary.
I have had many conversations with Bargora. He was always a cool dude to talk with and was one of the most laid back posters here. He will be missed.

It doesn't say how he died, anyone know? Untimely deaths bother me, and I'm always very interested in knowing how.
The Electric Quarter will be donating to the snow leopards in his behalf on the next business day.

I can't believe Brian is gone.
He's been a fixture around here for as long as I can remember, and he was always a really nice guy to talk to. I never met him in person, but he was one of the members here that I always hoped meet one day.
He will be missed... this place will never be the same without him.

I didn't know Bargora well nor did I get the chance to meet him in person, unfortunately. He was a good poster on this board and he will always be a much loved member of the DP family.
He will be missed.
Rest in peace, Brian. :(

Deepest condolences to Brian's family and close friends. This really hits close to home for me as I fight recurrent cancer, first in '03 and now again. It is really sad when you don't get to have goodbyes with all the friends you make along the way. If I was is a better situation fiancially I would definately send a contribution. In lieu of that I do send out my deepest heartfelt sympathy and understanding to those who mourn the deepest. It would be really nice if Brian's wife or family could see this thread or get word that the loss reaches far around the globe to poeple who never physically met Brian, but knew him in this community as a friend.

Shit, that's just awful to hear.
He was one of those guys that had been around forever and felt like part of the furniture here (in the best possible way). From his posts, he was always someone worth listening to and certainly seemed like he had a good head on his shoulders, and a good taste in games to match.
Has anyone thought about leaving a message in the guestbook at that obituary site? While dozens of messages from DPers may not be in the best taste, how about someone who knew him better leaving a single post on behalf of everyone at DP?
A moments silence for a valued forum member. Rest in peace, Brian.

In an odd coincidence, I beat Gradius 3 just before this topic went up, which is what his avatar is from.

I grew up next to a girl (she was older than I) named Sherri Blum - she did a lot of paintings and whatnot for interior design (do a Google on her name - her stuff is all over the place).
She "died unexpectedly" as well, as was reported in the paper. Tragically, in her case it was suicide. It may be the case that Brian's death was due to something equally tragic, although perhaps not the same cause. At any rate, the family probably wanted the cause withheld for some reason of that nature.
Condolences to his family, esp. his parents. Losing a child is a very difficult thing.

Oh my god... this... this is... I... shit. I really don't know what to say here. This is just... bad.
He was an excellent forum member and a devoted shoot-em-up aficionado. I remember long ago when my avatar was that of the Gradius Xaerous Big Core Fighter, and his classic avatar of the Vic Viper shot at my avatar. Heh... I laughed. I guess that laughter is silenced now.
One of our own has passed away, and I'll be damned if all his friends aren't currently in mourning. Rest in peace, Brian. We shall all miss you.

Ho-lee-crap... :(
Indeed, it had seemed like he was around here forever. He will be sorely missed.
The obituary says he died the 21st. His last post on these boards was only the day before. His last post?
"Goodbye Flora. I am sleeving for goof. Please replete my discount."
I have no idea if that's giving any insight into anything his end or was merely a comment about the thread it was posted in. I guess we'll probably never know.
RIP Brian for all the peeps here at DP.

Man, I just can't believe this.
Alan was fucking awesome: clever, funny, and just a great dude on and off of these forums. I remember when he brought his Steel Battalion setup over to my place in Dayton and we just played the hell of out it and most of the Saturn shooter catalog. Wish I could’ve hung out with him one more time before I moved.
We’ve lost one of our best. I’m really going to miss him.

Wow. I hopped online to find some stuff and I saw this thread on top. I cannot believe it. My thought are with his family during this difficult time.
I met Brian(or Alan, as he chose to go by) once, at DPCP03. He was the coolest forum member I've ever met, his sharp wit being his best characteristic. We exchanged numerous PMs over the past few years, many times just to BS. I really did consider him a good friend, even though we'd only met once.
I've had a few signatures during my tenure here, with most of them enimating from something funny he had said. I even had him in my sig as the 'funniest person I've ever met'. My sig now, as a matter of fact, is from him.
RIP, good friend. :(

Well, it's been a few minutes since I've read the news, and I'm still not sure it's completely sinking in... this is unbelievable.
I never knew him that well, but I really respected whatever he had to say on these forums. When I first became a mod here, and wasn't completely sure of what did what beyond the basic stuff, he actually PM'd me out of the blue and offered advice... I've always really appreciated that.

33 - damn, that's a young age to just suddenly die - what a horrible shock for his family. Good that he was loved enough here to make such a noticeable impact - if there's this much outpouring here, just on a game board he posted at - I can only imagine the void he must have left in the people who knew him in real life.

I met bargora back at the Cedar Point Meet in...2003? was it? And he was a totally cool fellow, absolutely hilarious. My friend and I remarked on how he looked younger than us, and all was well.
He'd been trying to get me to play Steel Battalion with him for months. I never went for it, not wanting to go through the trouble of hooking up the controller, finding a place to set it all, and figuring out how to play in the line of fire. Now, it seems, it will never happen. Ironic, though, how he died the month that the campaign mode in that, one of his most favorite games, was ending. Perhaps a true victim of that faux war.
Rest in peace, my good man. I shall do what you had wanted me to do for the longest time-I shall hook up Line of Contact and carry on where you left off.
