With all those video game systems its bound to happen sometime. Ive tripped mine about 2 times now, due to 2 ext. cords pluged into one power stick. So i want to know how much worse you triped it or have you tripped it yet.

Only once, quite awhile back. I forget what all we had plugged into that outlet, but it's always the addition of something small, like a lamp or whatever that blows it.

While we're on the subject, (And to save me the trouble of going to the tech forums) anyone know what kind of load a dormant AC adapter puts on the outlet? I mean if I have 5 AC adapters plugged into one outlet, all their consoles turned off, is that anything to think about? I feel them get warm, so some power is obviously being used.

Never as a result of only videogames. Probably a couple dozen times where videogames were part of the problem. Once I move, thats not going to happen, because my dad is going to make sure very few plugs are on the same curcuit.

It's called phantom power and is generally very small if you go to http://michaelbluejay.com/electricity/ you can learn all about it. I do believe the number is small 1-5 watts. But, if you figure 5 AC adapters at 5 watts 24/7 that would work out to 600 watts a day or 220 Kilowatts a year. Is that a big number to you? I tossed all of mine on a power bar and turn the power bar off when I'm not playing them. But I'm cheap like that, figure is saves me about 22 dollars a year.

Never. Suddenly I feel so inadequate. :(

If PC's are considered consoles... too often...

Roughly every weekend :embarrassed: We have a LAN party over at my place, and my friends to bring 600Watt monsters... (hey, the baby I'm using now is a conservative 550 :P... the fact I have 3 plugged in doesn't mean anything 8-) )

Never. I don't have a power bar so I just unplug my systems when I'm not using them. I have a huge mess of plugs, AC adaptors, and wires littering the floor beneath my outlet.

Just once while playing games and the portable heater I had going was the culprit.

Nah. I just tend to fry outlets. I just had major electrical work done to prevent that from happening though this week.

Yeah, I only blew mine once doing the same thing. I just unplugged some un-needed stuff and tried again.

when i lived upstairs in my old bed room, the breakers would be tripped atleast once or twice a month. many times due to my mom wanting to use the blow dryier LOL. but since i moved to the basement, i havnt' done any breaker tripping lately..

Wow... if anybody trips a breaker with video game consoles, there must be some kind of strange issue with the wiring... unless you have a lot of consoles and turn them all on at once.

Admittedly, one of the first things I did when moving into my current house was inspect and rewire the game room to ensure quality power :)

It's surprising I haven't blown a fuse, considering I have 3 extension cables coming from one plug hole. It's really not safe. I'm sure I could cut back on plug usage. I have 2 lava lamps, a fan, a mobile phone charger, 7 consoles, a HIFI, a TV, a spare monitor for my laptop, and my laptop, all going from one power outlet. LOL

I can't trip a breaker, I'm old-school I run fuses still. :rocker:

But no, never popped one of them without running any major power tools.

Yeah, video games, a TV and a stereo don't have enough juice to trip a breaker or blow a fuse. My bro-in-law's house has the entire upstairs on one circuit. We had to crunch the numbers when he had me install an electric fireplace and we were able to have the fireplace with heat, game system, tv, stereo, 2 lights and a computer w/monitor on a 15 Amp breaker. No hot breaker, no tripping. Just the lights dimming when the heat was turned on. Just be mindful what's all on that circuit and don't overload your outlet.

@wester: my house has fuses as well. I trust them more than breakers. In my old mobile home the heat tape (a wire that heats up and gets coiled around external water pipes to keep them from freezing) was frayed and was shorting. The breaker it was on was rattling but NOT tripping. Thankfully I was home and I heard the breaker and could smell the burning insulation.

Never tripped the breaker. Only if I had the air conditioner on and my sister turned on the hair dryer, that was a different story.

Haha ain't that the truth. My first trip was plugging in a lamp so i could play an original GB and my second trip was when my poorly built alarm clock went off.

Never. I have two computers (w/ powered speakers), four consoles, powered speakers for the TV, and a TV plugged into two outlets in the game room. Kinda scares me sometimes, but I've never had an issue. I blew an NES adapter this weekend, though that has nothing to do with it.

I have tripped the powercord to my Twin Famicom so the AC adapter got broken :( Really sux. I can just use a universal AC adapter, but still.

I was playing PS2 once, dont remember which game, but I had tried to kill a boss or something for 30 mins. When I finaly was about to make it the cord to the controller somehow got stuck in the chair which resulted in the controller being pulled out of the PS2. Didnt make the boss that time hehe, but many tries later I did ;)

With my game systems and even my 8 computer LAN, I've never tripped a circuit or fried and outlets. Guess I'm lucky (or it's the great wiring upgrade I had done in my house years ago).

Only. My N64 turned off during a round of old DOOM 64, solely because my mom was vacuming upstairs and we had all the lights on for some reason. What's weird is that stuff upstairs was on the same electrical thingy as some downstair stuff.

i tripped it once this summer, i had my computer, some game system (can't remember which), a few fans, my air conditioner, the TV, and possibly the downstairs computer all on at once. that is of course not counting Lights and all the accessories that go with Computer/game system/ TV such as speakers, monitor, Dish network box, and amplifier.
