I picked up another Adv. Of Link Manual today but this one is slightly different than the other one I have, this one has "Zelda II" writter in the upper left corner. And the back is slightly different also.
Are there alot on NES manual variations besides this one? I wonder is anyone has even gotton into collecting manual variations...

I'm guessing one of those manuals is from the rerelease and the other is from the original release. I know the box was slightly different for the rerelease. It had a red bar on top that said "Classic Series". I know Zelda 1 and Metroid were also repackaged this way.

The one on the left has copyright 1988, the one on the right has copyright 1988/1989. I'm not sure when the rerelease came out though.

Looks like the one on the left is the original. I found pictures of both versions on eBay:

The key to collecting manual variations is box variations. Match up the NES ID tags on the manuals to the ones on the boxes (the box flaps actually). example: NES-xx-USA, NES-xx-USA-1, NES-xx-USA-2

and YES, there are TONS of variations for NES manuals... i guess it all depends on how picky you get with what you got.

qixmaster that's not entirely true, and that's the huge problem with collecting nintendo variants

the -1 do NOT have to match on manual/box/cart, so unless you bought a game brand new, you can't tell which manual goes with which box and so on. Of course there are exceptions, example, if the logo of the publisher got changed, of course all 3 parts were revised and all are -1. But if there was just a typo in the manual (or a fault), the manual gets -1, the other parts remain without number :/
