Like many people have said before, I think Zelda is the last thing people will buy for the cube. It be wierd to see Cube sales go up next summer.

Agreed
I personally luv the little Gamecube and miss my Metroid Prime edition more everyday. :(
I do plan on getting another one to re-collect the RE series, the Metroid Primes and especially for Twilight Princess.
To be honest Ive never understood why the Gamecube wasnt more successful overall :hmm:

yeah thats why this is my favorite board for videogames on the net ;) at least fellow gamers on here actually post coherent readable threads intstead of all the crap mentioned above.
Hell sometimes I post a thread that doesnt look all that great but its time tasking to edit some information, gossip, rumors, or news from the net sometimes.

IMO...
1) A Niece Market, Not as Big...
2) With the PS1s Success, alot of People stuck with Sony for a similar experience...
3) Exclusive Games GC missed Out on...
4) You couldnt Chip a GC till recently...
(The fact the PS1 could be chipped i think made it out sell the Saturn, Likewise for Ps2, Xbox and GC)
Im gonna miss the GC too... Zelda will probably be the last purchase for me too, apart from cheap random finds here and there...
Oh and Resi Evil 3 to complete my Resi Set!

As far as I'm concerned, the GameCube died in MY house the day the assholes announced that Zelda would not arrive this Christmas....but at the end of next April. After finding several sources to confirm this, I immediately traded in my Cube and it's library for my PSP and a fistful of games.
It'll be a cold day in hell before I invest in a Revolution. I'm tired of the "modern" Nintendo.

Poor GameCube, the market is shifting and Nintendo is getting left behind again just like the N64 days.
I saw the release list and notice some of the ports were taking a bit longer, like Midway Arcade Treasure 3 (Oct 25th release). Which reminded me of the final years of the N64. When titles were released so far in between.
I pretty much have to say that Zelda will put this dog to sleep. It deserves a good rest after how much abuse it's had over the years with countless threads and flame wars.

Just another reason why TTP is going to debut on the Revolution.

I'm reminded of the final days GBC:
GBA was just around the corner, and GBC was starting to get cheaper (Plus, people where losing interest in Pokemon). I asked my parents for a GBA, and got a GBC. It was annoying, because I wanted a GBA, but I enjoyed it anyway. I still play my GBC, because my GBA has such a horrable screen.
I have a feeling if I buy a Gamecube, NRev will come out sooner.
That's my 2 cents worth, now I'm going to finally finish Pokemon!

Yeah, get mad at Nintendo for wanting to make a better and more complete game? :hmm: Things take time in making great games, which I'm sure this one will be. If you have ever played RE4, if was worth the wait. That game had so many damn delays. (And the game basically came out perfect to me)
But hey, I too REALLY wanted the game this winter, and it's not like i actually like the delays, but I can wait for a better product to come out. Escpically when It comes to Zelda. NINTENDO has high standards for their games when it comes to their main mascots, like Zelda and Mario. That's why we don't get a Mario game every other years.

That would have been a great idea if they would have planned this from the beginning! Just think how many people would be buying Revolution games with Zelda as a launch title, along with Mario!
Maybe this is how Nintendo is going to tell us all the Zelda will be launched on the Revolution.
They start by saying the Gamecube is ending it's life. Three months later they say that after looking at the Gamecube's sales they didn't think it was right to release Zelda on Gamecube and that's why it was moved to the Revolution.

That's a definite possibility, but now that I think about it, if Zelda was released for the Revolution then they would have to port everything over to the REV which that in itself would probably take a while. Along with the fact that while the GC version of TTP looks awesome, I'm sure it would look twice as good on the REV.

Not really, according to Nintendo Gamecube games will easily be ported over to Revolution.
Revolution Uses GCN Dev Kits
In an interview with Engadget.com, Shigeru Miyamoto has disclosed new information on the Nintendo Revolution development process. According to the Nintendo mastermind, Revolution software development can take place on existing GameCube development kits.
When asked about the Revolution lineup compared to the Nintendo DS lineup, Miyamoto had this to say.
“The one advantage we have in this area is that the Revolution development can actually be done on the Game Cube development environment. So the development kits are going to have a very similar structure to the Game Cube development kits, which makes it very easy for people who have started projects on the Game Cube development kits to just switch over the interface and continue working and have those games ready for the Revolution. We’re thinking that we’re going to be able to have a pretty strong launch.”
The interview with Miyamoto also touches on a number of different subjects, ranging from Nintendogs to the Mario universe. You can read the full interview by clicking [here].
Nintendo Revolution is set to launch sometime next year. New details on the system’s Wi-Fi plan as well as the official name for the system are expected to be revealed by the end of the year. We’ll have more as it develops.

I know it was over for ye old 'Cube when I saw the Super Smash Brothers Melee was the #2 or #3 biggest seller for the 'Cube LAST MONTH. This was a launch title, folks. You should know there's trouble when half of your top sellers for the month are launch titles and Player's Choice games.
Zelda was just the icing. I'm half expecting it to be a Revolution title.

Well I have yet to purchase a cube. I own a game for it, and thats it (Metal Gear Solid Twin snakes). The only reason why I want/wanted a cube was for the common classics like Zelda, Mario, and Metroid. The Resident Evil 4 game is a bonus. Although there are some other games on this system that I wan't, but I was never die hard despreate to purchase one. So I'm going to end up doing what I did with the N64. Buy the system just for Zelda , then stock up on cheap A titles that I havent played. Doing this will give me plenty to tide myself over untile the next generation systems come up, and produce quality games.
NOTE: People shouldn't be surprised about Zelda being delayed. They did the same with Oot as well, and if they want to delay it to make it better other than it's previous installment (Wind Waker), then I'm pissed! but I'm all for it ;)

4) You couldnt Chip a GC till recently...
(The fact the PS1 could be chipped i think made it out sell the Saturn, Likewise for Ps2, Xbox and GC)
The fact that you couldn't chip a GC is how Nintendo has been able to make money. They don't have all these leechers stealing games from them. I really think the chip fanbase is a lot smaller than you think. It's sad the number of people who stop by the gaming channels on IRC not to discuss games but for help on making "backups". Backups my ass.
Also, to the person who dumped Nintendo because Twilight Princess wasn't coming out this Christmas:
You rush a game, and it will suck forever.
You delay a game to polish it, then it sucks for a little while (while waiting), and then is awesome forever.
I already knew this to be true, but it's a bit more painful to hear someone from Nintendo say it. :(

If sales are only bad in the USA why a lot of Konami games never saw releases in Europe I wonder. For the rest there is no news, as everbody knows the cube isn't selling well in the west.

*Looks at topic title*
It took an official announcement for people to realize this?
My angry post had meant that I was fed up with the additional longer delay for Zelda, since I had been keeping my Cube around SPECIFICALLY for that game, assuming a Christmas '05 release. The game has been in production for the entire lifespan of the Cube and the one biggest hurrah has been taken away again. Perhaps this is Nintendo's way of keeping people glued to their Cubes for a bit longer. I not planning on buying a Revolution because I'm tired of having to keep Nintendo consoles around while I wait for stellar releases that are fewer and farther between than on the other consoles. I can't see the Revolution changing anything, although I would love to be wrong.

My Cube will always be my favorite system from this generation, and it'll probably get the most playtime going forward too.
There are still a ton of games out for it that I haven't played, so I could honestly care less whether they continue releasing new software for it or not.

This is specifly why I've waited to by one. I mean didn't you and the rest of the people notice while other big titles were being released on PS2, and Xbox, gamecube had well nothing or maybe 1 game comming out? The biggiest thrust to the GC library was RE4 last time I checked. Besides that we get milkig titles like Mario DDR etc.

You needed senior management at nintendo to tell you this ? =/
Yeah, really. I'm sorry, but ANYONE looking at the Nintendo sales records for recently should be able to come up with the same solution.
No, the fact that you couldn't chip a GameCube is NOT the reason that Nintendo was making money. Along with that, it still doesn't explain why the Xbox and PS2 have much higher game sales than the Cube. If everyone was just stealing everything, then the Cube should have the least consoles sold but the highest quantity of games to systems. That never happened. In fact, it is just the opposite.
Also, to the person who dumped Nintendo because Twilight Princess wasn't coming out this Christmas:
You rush a game, and it will suck forever.
You delay a game to polish it, then it sucks for a little while (while waiting), and then is awesome forever.
I hope you realize though that by delaying Z:TP, Nintendo essentially said that they didn't care about gaining any sales this Christmas season with the game, and the only people that will buy the game will be big Nintendo / Zelda fans. Sure, the game will be good... but the amount of systems it can sell will be much smaller.
The same thing happened when Resident Evil 4 came out *after* last Christmas season. Even with both the Xbox and PS2 sold out everywhere, Nintendo couldn't get the Cube to sell with an extra controller as well as Mario Kart. If you took both of those and parted them out, the system and one controller was $30.00 for Christmas. And they were everywhere.
After Christmas, RE4 came out and did... nothing. Instead of a huge bump in Cube sales, the focus was on everywhere else because everyone who had just got something new for Christmas got something that wasn't a GameCube.

Nintendo has only themselves to blame for weak sales. The company continues to not think of a large fanbase that has flocked to other systems a long time ago. I love the Gamecube, but for the last six months, I have only played it once or twice. It was a good system, with probably one A+ game left.

I don't have ANY of the current three consoles, but if I did, it would probably be a Cube.
But I'm still not getting one. LOL
Seriously... Super Smash Brothers Melee was the Cube's 2nd biggest seller last month! That's ridiculous! Mario Sunshine was in the top 10! I saw Animal Forest and Pikmin in the top 10 a few months ago! When all your games are old, cheap, Players Choice games, then you're screwed. Remember when the PSone was still ranked? I think the firts Spyro was a top-seller one month, as was the original Driver.
Poor Cube. We barely knew ye.

I would much rather have the new zelda come out for the cube, because if it comes out to rev, that means that i would have to invest in another system. i don't mind getting another system, but when it comes to next-gens, i like to wait for price drops or special editions, i do not like buying them at launch

But wouldn't that be the exact reason Nintendo would want Zelda to come out for the Revolution? So gamers would put up a little more money for the newest Nintendo system too?
Unfortunately, Nintendo looks at their "dedicated fan base" more than the "mass market," so Zelda will almost definitely come out for the Cube, and no one will really care except for the Nintendo die-hards. Just like RE4.
Oh well.

I am not supprised that nintendo is cutting the gamecube. Piracy of the cube is not so easy. I need to use PSO episodes I and II (not Plus edition), a Broadband adapter in the gamecube and a pc with a crossover cable into the system to play my "backups." Now before I get into trouble, I want to say that I buy what I like. Also, that method is not too great because the damn games skip a lot due to the fact that I can only stream at 10 mbs vs 100 that most PCs and consoles use. Kinda sad that there is nothing too great for the cube. RE4 was an exclusive untill capcom decided to port it. I am happy with my GC and nothing anyone says can take that system from hy hands while I still live. I think the reason it is not so great is due to the piracy protections and that there is nothing realy that great for it. Exclusive or otherwise. Sure there are good games but they are far and wide apart. I hope the revolution will have the edge over the damn Xbox 360. All I ever see is talk about the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Not much on the revolution. There is only one way nintendo can save themselves. Get some good 3rd parties and get them fast. Sega is not enough for nintendo to live off of. They are only so much.
