Who here is ready to enjoy all the new NDS games online? One thing I'm looking foward to doing is playing against some of you guys, so I want to make sure everyone is ready on the first day.

So who's ready?

NintendoMan

Yes i am. My mom bought a router for my sister's laptop about 6 months ago. I also just got a new VAIO desktop, so am using a wireless adaptor for it as we speak!
So I'll be using it for 2 things, once DS goes online, which I can't fucking wait for MARIO KART DS!!!!!!

I'm not sure. I'll do some research. I really want to play against you PDorr3.

All Nintendo needs to do is come out with a internet browser for the DS and I won't have to touch my computer any more.

I've got my wireless network locked down by mac address so only my devices can connect - does anyone know if there's a way of figuring out what your DS's mac address is?

that sucks :(

I'm using WEP (because broken ass encryption rocks!... and my powerbook supports it!) but I do static IPs, so it'll be interesting to see how that works out (for the love of god, please do not require me to enable dhcp :( ). Should be interesting to see the range on this baby.

In other news, I want a new WRT54G so that I can swap out the firmware and transfer crap from my network to my DS. I want to play the DS port of scummvm pretty badly :(

yes it does.

If you don't use WEP then buy the wifi dongle. That will bypass any wireless encryption. Then it will use your computers connection which can handle WPA just fine.

I certainly am, had it set up for my laptop a while back, and now that the damn laptop is dead my DS can hog the entire connection.

I'm just waiting for Nintendo to release their Wi-Fi USB adapter along with Mario Kart, then I'll be Wi-Fi ready...Nintendo making a Wi-Fi adapter? Sweet! Nintendo's products have always been tough and durable, and top-notch quality.

At thirty pounds a pop, I want it to withstand an atomic bomb! For the price of three dongles... I can get a Nintendo DS. Where is the sense in that?

I already have a LinkSys 802.11b router. I believe that does mean I will be ready from day one.

Can't wait! I wonder, does Mario Kart control well? Who made that video? I hope it's not too hard to control. Is it as easy to do PowerSlides as it was in Double Dash!!!?

Can't wait for Animal Crossing too. :D

What else?

Question, are there any WiFi games ready now that will automatically work the day the network is activated? Or are all games out now just not to be?

So let me see if I've got this right. If two people have a DS and wifi and the same game, they can play against each other, regardless of location?

No Wifi games are out yet.

well, I've already got a wireless router, so when the Wifi adaptor comes out, I should be ready to go. Of course, things are usually never that easy for me, at least when it comes to computers. :/ Online Mario Kart will kick ass, though I'm even more excited as to what's yet to have been announced. I'm praying that Pokemon Diamond/pearl will be online, that would be nothing short of a godsend! Who's with me ? :D

Good luck with your 200 ms to 300 ms dial-up. You'll be flying off the courses because of lag spikes and be dead last in Mario Kart. LOL

I've actually been toying with the idea of picking up a DS, and this is getting me closer and closer to it. I want it to come with a free game though, or be able to get a couple other cheap games for it. I bought Zoo Keeper recently from Best Buy using those McDonalds coupons for $5.00 off it. Made it $4.99. I like this type of game, and if WalMart still had that DS + Mario 64, I would be all over it.. If nothing else than because I want a GBA now too...

Forgive my ignorance, but how does this whole wi fi work? Some articles make me think that all you need to take the ds online is a wireless router. But if that is true, why do we need the Nintendo wi fi usb adapter?

Tell me if I am wrong. To take your ds online you will need both a wireless router, and the usb adapter, and an online enabled game? If this is the case, does that also mean that you can download stuff onto the ds via the wi fi? Help me out, I dont understand.

You need a online enabled game and a router or an online enabled game and a usb dongle.

new mario kart ds video

Cool, thanks for posting that video. I have watched it like 5 times already. Whoever is driving the Kart though is either terrible as fuck at driving, OR, getting used to the D-Pad is hard again?? I mean look at them swerve left, right, left, then right again, etc.

I will admit it will take some getting used to for me to use the D-Pad again. I play Double Dash at least every other day, and the N64 version often as well.
