I was lucky enough to find one of these at a flea market but I don't need it in my collection so I'm putting it on eBay. I researched it a little and I have read on various sites that it is a clone. Other sites suggest that this was how Sega could enter the South Korean market becuase of some laws in place at the time. My question is, is this a clone / pirate system or a licensed item or at least the product of an agreement between Sega and Samsung?

Thanks in advance.

Shawn

They're licensed. Samsung sold versions of most Sega consoles in South Korea.

You found a Gam*Boy at a flea market!? :eek 2: Nice find!

To answer your question: Yes, the Gam*Boy is an offical, licensed product from Sega. I believe how the story goes is that Sega gave Samsung the full rights to manufacture and distribute the Master System in Korea. The Gam*Boy is also a bit technically superior to the US Master System in some aspects (like the inclusion of a built-in FM Unit, for one).

Thanks for the help guys. I pasted the above quote straight to the auction. I hope that's cool.

I'll be posting it in the Everything eBay section tonight.
