From Gamesindustry.biz:
Piracy fears surface ahead of the launch of Microsoft's next generation console
Platform holder Microsoft may face a new piracy threat, as reports surface of ten Xbox 360 development kits being stolen from a warehouse in Duren, Germany, with the hardware believed to have fallen into the hands of hackers.
According to an article on Spiegel Online, the shipment of ten dev kits was delivered to a warehouse in Germany in unmarked packaging. The kits were supposed to be distributed onwards to developers in order to create games for the new console platform.
A few days after the shipment went 'missing', photographs of the kits appeared on the Internet, with the serial numbers edited out. Police raids in Austria and Germany recovered three of the units, but seven kits remain untraced at present as the investigation continues.

The X-Box 360 is being traced like it's Metal Gear.
This should be good fun. Knowing Germany, they'll probably use it to broadcast rave music somehow.

this would be cool, the first case of a system being hacked before the release date.

I think it's dumb, this is the reason why prices are so high now. To make up for priracy etc. Why couldn't they wait till after launch ;)

this is the reason the price is so high now? its always been high...MICROSOFT is why the price is so high.
they talk about bypassing dvd regon encoding like its some sort of horrible act...i hate how companies bitch and whine about this stuff...oh no the modded our system...well its not illegal here and when we mod it the warranty go out the window so whats the big deal hmm?
i think theyre just mad that people come out and mod their system to do things they wish they thought of in the devlopment stages

This smells of "the reason XXXXXX feature wasn't available at launch is because of theft of XXXXXX."

Really? So Microsoft's games generally cost more than Sony and Nintendo's? Care to provide a few examples?

EMULATION HERE WE COME!!
No offense man but theres not even anything CLOSE TO SOLID EMULATION FOR THE XBOX 1 or PS2 yet and most likely wont be for a while to come.

True but dont we have enough emulation resources including PCs-wich I use for emulating everything from 8 to 32-bit and old arcade games- Xbox1 and DC nto to mention many others.
IMO spending $400 dollars on a new powerful Xbox360 emulating classic NES games on it would be the least of my interests, but hey thats just me i guess.

LOL I read this article in the papers and it made me laugh so hard, ofcourse it's a crime but i just totally love it when things like this happen.I can't understand how they could have stolen those cause they seemed to have searched for a while since they were packed in normal boxes.

"In other news, AssemblerEX from assemblergames.com has recently added an XBOX-360 development kit to his long line of development hardware. It fits perfectly next to the Acclaim development systems..." LOL
