I just collect NTSC USA releases. If it was released in Mexico or Canada but not in the US I don't want it. Nothing against anyone I do it to limit the scope of things. Its more of an excuse to put some limit on what I accumulate than anything.

So what about you. Do you collect anything and everything you can get your hands on or do you stick with the region you were born in?

I was thinking of getting some Asian and UK Sonic Genesis games in the box.

I really do like imports, especially since Japan gets many fun and interesting titles that would never see the light of day over here.

I don't go hog wild on them, but I've been known to snag some here or there. Out of my 182 PS2 games, 20 of them are Japanese.

I don't collect PAL stuff, mainly since I can't play it on the TV here and I'm too lazy to use a workaround. But I do have one PAL game, Toy Racer for the Dreamcast, and I'd love to score a complete copy of Probotector on NES someday.

I enjoy adding interesting or unusual imports to my collection.

I predominantly collect PAL games, but will collect certain American ones if they are unreleased here in the UK, Ie, Many of Square's PSone games which never saw a PAL release...

I'll also buy other regions if I ama big fan of a certain game. For example, I recently bought a US PS2 hard drive and FFXI ~ Not that I can use them here mind, but I love the box set so much I had to have it!

here's some examples ...

Contra Famicom ver. has cinemas usa version has none !
Castlevania IV sfc has some crosses in it usa ver has none...

kato and ken/jj and jeff

I tend to simply get imports of games which aren't available in the UK - although recently I've got a couple of DS games on import simply because of the delay in release over here and the fact that it costs the same - and often is cheaper - to get the import.

There are a couple of reasons I import.

Sometimes great games never get over to America, like Radiant Silvergun, and Gundam Wing Endless Duel.

Sometimes US games are too expensive, like Panzer Dragoon Saga, Valkyrie Profile, or REZ (Which the Jap version is entirely in english depending on your system settings).

And sometimes I just can't wait for titles to come out over here, I think I bought about a dozen coppies of We Love Katamari at the Jap launch. Seems like half the people I know asked me to mod their PS2 just so they could get me to import it.

I'd say 5-10% of my collection is import.

Most of my games are Japanese. As I mainly play shooters and platformers, there's no real language barrier to worry about, plus I much prefer the Japanese boxart. And many of the games never make it outside of Japan anyway.

I only get an English language version (e.g - Burning Rangers) if I really need to understand what's going on. And then I'd usually get the US version so it's gonna be running 60Hz, unless I can make the PAL version run 60Hz.

And sometimes just out of pure cheapness. I'm not gonna pass up on a good deal, just to get a Jpn version. Found PSone Strikers 1945 II in Gamestation for £3 (and I can run it @ 60Hz)!! And there's no way I'd pay £150 for Vampire Killer, when Castlevania: Bloodlines is about $10.

Collecting-wise, my main focus is on PAL releases - as a completist it would be a nightmare to look at all games from all regions!
However, I've moved onto worldwide games that weren't released over here for the Master SYstem, and will probably do the same for the Mega Drive/Genesis eventually...

This is my main reason why I don't collect for other regions. I figure all the nintendo stuff I've collected over the years (and many more to come) will be more than enough to keep me satisfied without having to go to other regions.

No chance. If I find a fami game or something, and it's really cheap, I might pick it up, but that's only happened once in the past 10 years. I don't ever even find any DOMESTIC releases in the wild, so finding imports is like a 1 in a million chance.

I only collect/buy things that were sold in the US or Canada. However, if I saw something cheap (it would have to be really cheap) that was something I wanted (big box of cheap famicom games or a FDS or something) I'd pick it up.
As far as completing a collection; I only worry about my region.

All regions. Firstly where i'm from (singapore), all gameshops sell imports (Predominantly US and Jap releases). Secondly, there's hardly any support for local (asian) releases for ps2 by Sony, although there is some for xbox. Gamecube never officially came out in our region, hence imports again.
Luckily for us, the cost of the games are almost the same price as buying it retail in the US or Japan.
Regarding PAL releases... I think European gamers are getting ripped off, cuz PAL releases that come from the UK or Australia are way cheaper in singapore than in their native countries. Go figure.

I collect JP and US NTSC, but so far I haven't gotten into anything PAL. Eventually I may end up collecting PAL Saturn games, even if I don't bother getting the necessary stuff to play them, I still like the box designs better than the US boxes.

I'm another NTSC whore, though I will buy european PC games if I don't feel like waiting forever and a day for them to come out in the US (and even then, censored sometimes)

Of my PS2 collection (121 games), 34 of them are Japanese/Korean/or General Asian releases and the rest are US. My DC and Saturn collections are mainly Japanese (not because of personal preference, but just because that's what was more available to me), and my Playstation collection is split down the middle.

I probably WILL import Ninjabread Man when it comes out, though...especially if it's not that expensive. Seriously...Ninjabread Man. How can you say no to that?

Only US and JPN NTSC games. I don't do PAL. :monkey:

I'm pretty much US NTSC because, well, I live in the US, always have, and its an easy way to limit the collection! Plus its not like I'm ever going to find an import in the wild, if I want imports I have to go online or go to a special game shop. I sometimes buy Japanese releases if they aren't released in the US, but only if I really want the game, ie since I'm a castlevania nut Rondo of Blood was a must- buy for me. I dont really want to mess with the PAL/NTSC conversion crap so I dont forsee ever going after European releases.

US. Manily because that's the only region I see. I've never imported anything there is 1 Jap. GC that I really want(the one like SSBM but with characters from other companyies). I don't remember the name of it but I'd like to have it.

I would say I am primarily a US collector, although I have a pretty extensive collection of NIB Japanese consoles (including many classic consoles) and tons of PAL games for PSOne, Saturn and DC. The only Japanese current or last generation stuff I have purchased has been stuff like shooters or games that are almost 100% in English. I would love to limit my collection, but there is just too much cool stuff that never makes it out over here.

I'll buy games for any region as long as I've got the capability of playing them. Currently, that just rules out US PS2 as I've only got a UK & Jap machine at the moment.

I don't discriminate between local PAL and imports. If I don't have the game, then I don't care what region it's from. Whichever ends up being cheaper.

That said, I'll avoid some NTSC-J imports if I know they're text heavy (e.g. I got the US version of Typing of the Dead).

But yeah, imports are cool, and I like having them around (usually because they'll play full screen/60Hz and older PAL stuff won't )

Most of my games are Japanese imports, and I have only Japanese region consoles.

At this point I import about half of what I get. It is the only way to satisfy my gaming needs due to the hot & cold US market.
