This game, along with its sister title "Black Daliah: The Torso Murders" offered an FMV/point and click interface with some interesting plots and a pretty good storyline. Each game took up about 6 CD-ROMS and I owned both I found them to glitch up a lot on my Windows 98 laptop. At any rate, I thought Ripper was an interesting game, what with Christopher Walken, Karen Allen and Burgess Meridith in the cast...but I never got to find out who the cyber ripper was.
In Ripper, you play a reporter for a cyber-paper...it's in the future, and in this time frame when you "jack-into" the internet, you really get into it (think "Nueromancer") and if you die in cyberspace...well, you die in reality too. Well, it appears someone is killing people from the inside out and sending messages to your character, who then publishes it in the Virtual Herald...much to the disapproval of a detective (Walken, at one of his creepy "i'm going to kill you even though I don't look like I want to kill you" roles).
Since the game ran in a DOS enviornment and I'm now on Windows XP machines, I doubt I'll ever be able to find this game, let alone get it to run nowadays...not as big as a pain as getting The 11th Hour to run...but I'm suspecting there was no GUI-patch made for it.
So, can anyone spill the beans on this game for me?
