Hey everybody,
This seems like a thread that would have allready been done, but it didn't look like it.
I'm curious about what collections people plan on completing one day. I ask this because I sort of have an idea of how the next few years of collecting are going to pan out for me. I'm not sure why, but there are collections that I see myself completing one day, but just not today.

To make this more inetesting, make your posts into different time-frames. As in:
"I plan on completing these within the next 6 months:"
"I plan on completing these in a year:"
"I plan on completing these in 2 years:"
etc...
If you think you're going to complete a collection next week, by all means write:
"I plan on completing these next week:"

I'm not sure if some people are like me and envision what they plan on completing. Or even if they are able to complete libraries as fast as I, but just do as much or as little as you like.

--------------------------------
I plan on completing these within the next 4 months:
Sega 32X (CIB)
Sega Master System (boxed)

--------------------------------
I plan on completing these within the next year:
NES
N64 (boxed)

---------------------------------
I plan on completing these within the next 18 months:
SNES
7800 (CIB)

---------------------------------
I plan on completing these within the next 2 years:
Vectrex (boxed)
Odyssey 2 (boxed)

---------------------------------
I plan on completing these sometime in my life:
Colecovision
Sega CD (complete)
Sega Saturn (complete)
Dreamcast (complete)

Hmmmm...............

I plan on completing my USA Sega Saturn collection (complete only) in the next year.

I plan on completing my boxed USA Nintendo 64 within the next 1-2 years (again, complete only)

Maybe Sega Cd one day. Who knows.

That is all.

Probably none of them. It's not so much the money factor that keeps me from completing a collection as it is the crappy games. I can't stand owning crappy games I'll never play or never want to play. And well, every console has at least one :(

As of now, I'm more focused on collecting for a specific franchise, rather than a console.

Over the next year it'd be nice to complete NTSC-US collections of the following (not taking into account cover variations, only different console versions/ports etc):

-Resident Evil (not terribly close to finishing this one yet, many various versions of ports out there)
-Silent Hill
-Suikoden (technically I have this complete currently)

Including imports as well:
-Shenmue

I plan on completing my NES collection within the next 18 months. It would go faster , but I simply muct have every game CIB (sitting at 500+ CIB now).

Anyhow , I have a few side projects though. Sega Master System : maybe 18 - 24 months.

Virtual Boy 24 months

Intellivision : 24 - 30 months

I really like taking my time on these though. I dont want to get burnt out.

I would eventually down the road like to buy another TurboDuo and replace my old TG16/Duo collection I had when I was younger and the stuff was new.

Sigh....I remember going to TRU to buy those games. My collection was moderate in size (20-25 games), but I had alot of the harder to find ones (hard to find now, that is).

Someday, though..... ^^;

Hopefully in the next year I can complete an Intellevision collection. I buy many different consoles and games, however the intellevision has a very managable library of games (save 3 or 4 titles). So far I have no complete collections, however my PS2 library keeps expanding (up to about 380 titles) and hopefully by the end of its game production run I will only need a couple hundred titles :P :wink 2:.

Im not in a hurry to finish any collections anytime soon.Im not looking forward to the days when I wont need to go game hunting for NES carts.

I want to complete my Vectrex (boxed) collection, but I havent bought a new game for it in over a year, so I dont see it happening any time soon :P

I doubt I'll ever finish a set, partly because I'm pretty much only interested in the good games for a system and partly because I hate the thought of not keeping an eye out for the next find.

The journey is the destination.

None.

I already have more games than I can play and I don't think I own more than 100 games.

I can't justify spending the exorbitant amounts of money required to complete any collections.

No sir.

Thank you.

Right now I'd like to have a complete collection of games by Treasure. I'm not going for every region, but if a game was released for more than one console, I'd want both...

I currently have 18 and am missing 11 (plus one manual).

I'd like to be completed in a year or two.

I'd like to have "almost" complete Zelda (have 9) and Castlevania (have 10) collections, but we'll see how that goes...

As far as complete collections for consoles go, I've tried but always end up selling the games I don't like playing LOL (i.e. Deep Blue on T16)...

Compete Working Designs collection: Whenever it happens... I still haven't touched the Sega side of it :(

Complete Virtual Boy US collection: Hopefully within the year, but it's going to be really hard for me to buy these games I know I really don't have a strong desire to play. If I start making more money (I hope to god I should be) within that time it shouldn't be too difficult a task.

I'm with you. More power to the people that complete entire system collections, I just personally don't see the point. I would rather have the cream of the crop across all gaming platforms instead.

SMS - 6 months, hopefully. I'm at 71 right now, so I'm over half way there.

Dreamcast - 1-2 years, I only have 70ish games but its a console I'm avidly hunting for.

NES - Some day, I have 356 games right now but I've practically given up on this as so many games are so very expensive complete.

Genesis - 2 years, after SMS is done this will be my top priority. I'm at 152 right now so I still have a LONG way to go.

I plan on finishing my NES collection in the next 2 years. I also hope by then that I will have the largest vintage sealed Nintendo merchandise collection in the world.

Sega 32x (need one game)
Sega CD (Up to about 70)
Sega Saturn (Up to about 80)
Sega Genesis (Up to about 500)

I have been wanting to complete master system, but I only need one game: Sonic. I don't really count sonic, strider or spiderman as necessary since they're basically PAL games, so I said screw it.

Well, it's kinda hard for someone my age(13) to complete a collection. But that doesn't mean I'm not trying. My main objectives are SNES, GC, and Genesis. I'd like to finish my GC collection while I can still get games at game stores. But that's not likely to happen....

(all referring to PAL collections except for the SG1000)

Master System: Done

MegaDrive: Hopefully within a year (~300/525 so far)

GameGear/MegaCD/Saturn/Dreamcast: somepoint after that (if I haven't burnt out/gone bankrupt by then ;)). Got a lot of the Sat/DC rares already.

SG1000(JP)/32X: I'll be able to get within a couple on both, but don't know if I'll ever stump up the crazy money that'll be required to get the last few ultra-rares.

Probably Pico aswell, just for completeness sake - there's only about 10 PAL releases so that's not too much of a worry :)

There's non-Sega stuff I want aswell, but I'm not too bothered about completing any others - a console or two and a nice selection of games for each will be fine.

I'll finish my 32X one someday. I just need a World Series Baseball Manual and a Star Wars Arcade Manual.

I will probably never have a complete collection for one system. Not my kind of collecting as I see no reason to have useless sports games lying around.

I will most likely have a near complete Treasure collection someday though. Maybe not all versions of every game, but at least an original of each title. All I need right now, outside of anything not yet released, is Buster's Bad Day & Rakugaki Showtime.

Eventually...

32x, Sega CD, N64, SNES, DS. After that, I will probably call it quits. Right now, I'm just doing DS, simply because I like that system too damn much and it sucks the money away from anything else.

I plan on completing As soon as Possible (I say this because I'm stuck looking for two games for the NGPC that just arnt coming up for sale, so when I find them, I'll get them) my NGPC.

I'm working on my PS and DC collections (which are in all honesty no OMG massive rush, they are just happening as they are), and the DC one is just a few games shy of all the variants and then its back to the 100 or so needed catalog titles, while the PS collection is taking its time, but will be completed at some point... I just cant quite say when that will be though.

I hope to one day get all the official North America NES games. I doubt I'll ever bother with all the unlicensed releases.

My PS survival horror section. I doubt I'll ever get everything though, some are so hard to find in NZ that I've never even seen them on sale online or otherwise [like Echo Night].

I've been thinking recently of trying to get a complete US N64 collection. Almost all the games for that system are pretty easy to get right now too. Unfortunately I still have things in storage, and my room right now is pretty untidy and small to even put more things in so I might have to wait on trying that.

My other systems have waaayyyy too high of a library for me to focus on. Smallest one I could probably do is a 32X, but I have like, two games for that.

I'd like to finish filling out the holes in my N64, Dreamcast, and Genesis collections. Not complete sets per-se, but definately darn near.

Vectrex: Got the multi-cart; I am happy. The few stray Homebrews and the paltry 8 real Vectrex games is satisfying. I'm already fighting a losing battle with space constraints that are going to kill me in the end.

NES: I don't really collect for the NES. I have my DC emu CD and that covers most of what I care about. Things that emu poorly or not at all is all I have kept in my NES collection. It's about 50 carts -- they don't see much milage.

SNES: I grab interesting looking games when I see them. There is no real 'wantlist' or light at the end of the tunnel. My last find was Super Godzilla. A depressing $5 purchase. :(

2600: Again reaching that 'happy' point where there's little I want, but much that I don't have. I can't justify the cash for a lot of the high rarity stuff. This may be the first collection to experience 'compression' when I move. Which sucks since I've done a good job building it up with some decent label variants too.

Jag, Saturn, 5200, Game Gear, Lynx, 7800: These are more side-collections. I don't spot too much of interest that I can justify picking up. If something interesting falls into my lap, I'll snarf it, but these are low-priority.

PSx,Xbox,GC,GBx: I don't plan to ever fill out these collections completely. I grab what looks cool at a 'low risk' price typically. It seems to work out.

Genres I'll grab; Proof that I'm a bit of an oddball. is my taste in gaming: Some of the series that I like to grab are: Bomberman, Mr. Driller, Medabots, Pokemon, varoius puzzlers, The Wipeout series, Vigilante 8. You get the picture.

I eventually plan on a complete PS1 and N64 collection. The PS1 will take at least 5-8 years though. The N64 I can complete within just a few. Sooner if I get a job.

None of them!

I've got some really close ones, but since a few items are R10, it will probably never happen.

And beside, I am selling off (or trying to) a good chunk of my collection soon. I'm just keeping the games I like, and to hell with the rest. Takes up too much space, and I do have 'other' hobbies that at this point in time are more of a priority.

Well finishing my NGPC collection has given me new hope so with that I plan on finishing:
N-Gage, Zodiac- Within 2 weeks (only need one more gamefor each)
Game.com, GP32- Within an year
R-Zone, Game Gear(loose), Game boy(original loose), DS, Wonderswan, VB, Lynx- Sometime within 6 years :D

Of course I will continue to build up games for other systems but handhelds are my number one priority.

In the next three years I hope to complete a Japanese Megadrive collection...already almost 10% of the way there. 8-)

In the next five years I hope to complete a Japanese PS1 collection...currently at about 25 of about...3500 or so? Can you say "waste of space"? LOL Will look absolutely incredible if I can pull it off, though...just thinking of all those boxsets is making me drool...

I plan on finishing NES someday
I plan on starting Virtual Boy someday

who knows what after those two. Maybe SNES or the DS when games are cheap. (ie. 5-10 years)

I'm going to slowly work on something different. A complete North American PSP game collection. There are plenty of used games around as people get rid of the system for one reason or another. I also don't think that it will have an extremely long life, perhaps making a complete library attainable. Then again, I could be wrong and the PSP lasts a long time.
