View Full Version : I need help with a fall festival project
My school is going to have it's annual fall festival this November 5th. My booth is going to be a video game booth. Last year I did the same thing and it made a lot of money, but this year I want to make even more, since the money will stay with the teacher so they could use it for fieldtrips. I love taking my students to expensive trips.
Here's what I have:
Xbox
2 GameCubes
Dreamcast
Last year I had Mortal Kombat II on one gamecube and SSB on the second cube. SSB made a lot of money. MK did not. On the DC I had House of the Dead, which also made a lot of money, but players had a long wait since I only have one gun. (if anyone is selling a DC gun please PM me) My question is, what games should I use this year?

Can teachers participate?
If so, you could have stuff targeted to their age group on one system. Say a midway arcade classics or some emulated games.
Not quite sure what format you are using. Pay per play, or tournament style? If pay per play, use games that are pretty short and can involve multiple players. If shooting for the teacher age group, how about Pac Man vs.?

typing of the dead would probably work out.
Something classic theyd all know like Galga or somthing.

Well, teachers can't participate, since they are the one's running the show. I had MK2 from midway arcade classics and no one really went for it. I was hoping for them to relive their youth, but not many people were interested.
Last year with SSB it was a ticket a game, unless you win you stay on to play the next round of players. Even though I was expecting only adults to play House of the Dead I actually had parents letting their 3 year old children play. I didn't stop them from doing that, but at the same time I was thinking, what kind of parent are you?

I would get a couple of multiplayer games to maximize your playing area. There are lots of four-player racing and multiplayer games. Cel Damage (sp?) is a blast and has fast and furious action.

I was thinking of having a retro area, but I'm not sure the adults might want to play. However I might give it a shot. Any other suggestions.

Is Cel Damage also available for DC. I guessing your talking about the Sony Playstation version. I didn't know it was a multiplayer game. What type of game is it?
Also do you guys think Mario Kart is to slow paced or will it generate a good amount of tickets?

Ikaruga on DC, since it's arcade style and most players are sure to die quick. LOL

Is it two player?

Okay so adults can play, though not teachers. Good enough.
Yeah a retro themed game would be good. Midway arcade classics is still not a bad idea, especially since you can change games on the fly. You could even have a list of games available, and have people choose.
Beyond that, pick games that maximize the 4 joystick ports on each system. Or something with a neat gimmick (DDR pads, etc). Typing of the dead might not work that well, since you need to set up the keyboards at a level where people can type properly.
Suggestions for cube
SSBM - but you knew that already
Pac Man vs.
Mario Kart
Midway arcade classics (if you're not using the xbox one)
Donkey Konga
Suggestions for xbox
Karaoke revolution - prepare to be a DJ
Halo/Halo 2
Dance Dance Revolution
Suggestions for dreamcast
one of the fishing games - arcade mode
bust a move
marvel vs capcom 2

Sleepycal made an excellent suggestion in Donkey Konga. Be sure to have the drums too, I think kids love those kinda new apparatuses.
DDR is always good too but it depends if the kids played it already or not. They might be shy if they havent played it.

All great suggestions so far! I only can think of a few other games not yet mentioned...
GameCube...
F-Zero GX - The classic F-Zero and F-Zero X super fast hoversled racing in glorious high resolution. Up to four players and a game both kids and adults would have a blast with, it's all pretty damn cheap right now.
Soul Calibur II - The most arcade accurate of the home versions (due to the Triforce Arcade Architecture), nothing keeps the money moving in and the gamers gaming like one of the best fighting games to be released in the past three years. It's also easy to pickup and play.
XBox...
Uh, don't mind me and skip this part, I only bought an XBox to play the dub version of Shenmue II. LOL
Dreamcast...
Crazy Taxi - Can't believe no one else mentioned this modern arcade / DC classic. It'll also keep player rotation moving.

I love the marvel vs capcom idea for DC. I don't know if Donkey Konga will work since I have to teach everyone who comes and plays it, how to play it.
Should I have Miday Arcade Classics 1 or 2.

Quite a few years back, I used to help out at a Christmas bazaar held by my mum's local church. Each year, I used to take my N64, Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye. These games really drew the kids in, particularly Mario (obviously). So, if you’re taking your GameCube, take Double Dash. Keeping the gameplay simple is the key to keeping the cash cows playing.

Go with Midway 1.
