Well... This is my basement that WAS. I have since moved and currently have everything either stored or squished into what little space we have for the next 6 months or so.

*sigh*

This is what can happen when dreams come alive! When space is not an issue! When nostalgia overshadows reason! When you have a VERY tolerant girlfriend!

ENJOY THE TOUR!

I've seen one before but I have no idea what it's for.

It's a great room but I was a little dissapointed with the tv. What size is it?

That's funny, because I noticed the size of the TV as well, but my reaction was "Nice". I have a 19" TV in my game room, and IMHO it is just the right size. I have never understood people who were size-queens when it came to screen size (and yes, I have played games on a huge TV).

Sorry to see that this game room is no more. It's one of the beter ones I have ever seen. Love the shelves.

Well with such a good room I expected a super duper TV.
I use a 21" TV and it suits me fine.

Awesome room! Bet you can't wait to dig it all out of storage to reassemble it. I always love planning it out, then pieceing it back together like a huge puzzle.
All the collectables you have are awesome. Very well thought out in terms of layout too. It is very difficult to display everything. I like the way you maximize the use of space and cram everything in. No empty spaces. Hope you end up in a place that will fit your collection.

Where did you/do you get all the papercraft stuff- the paper arcade, the DK level, the Super Mario stage 1.

Defineately one of the coolest rooms here on DP!

Thanks everyone! There were two TV sets. One 19" and the other one a 31". I hope to have a really great television someday. :(

I miss my room.... :bawling:

Here's the thread for the paper arcades. Most of the designs came from wayoftherodent.com though some of the arcades and the DK I did myself. As for the Mario, it's just a really long sheet of glossy paper put together with all of level 1-1 on it (captured images from the rom and messed with it a little).

Ah, I missed the bigger one. That more than makes up for it. We have a 28" 4:3 downstairs and that seems like a big one.

Let me second whis question. That was seriously a lot of great shelving and I can't imagine it was easy to come by. Did you get it from auctions, a former employer or were you just breaking into assorted retail outlets at night?

It's truly a tragedy to see a collection of this magnitude go into storage :shameful:

Well, I got the shelving from two different places. For the VHS shelves and the DVD towers, a couple years ago, the video store I work for was tossing them, so, WHA-LA! :D
The GCN/XBOX/PS2 shelves came from another video store that was closing! :king:

Now, I'm still hooking up systems and my "toys" and posters will remain in boxes, but here is what my games, VHS and DVD look like now (and will for the next 6 months or so).

The only bad thing was that it was HAUNTED. I am completely convinced, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there are atleast two ghosts in our old place. One friendly one upstairs in the bedroom (the dogs and cats would just stare at and react to the same nothing) and one kind of angry one (that especially didn't like women) in the basement. Creeped me out pretty often.

I would sometimes get this feeling when I was down there for a little while that felt like "okay, it's time to go". Like there was something inches from me staring hard at the back left side of my head. Sounds ridiculous but my girlfriend noticed it, as well as a few of my friends. I would usually bring one of my cats downstairs with me and when I got that feeling, the cat would sit in front of the door meowing loudly (where he would normally try to sneak downstairs whenever he could). It was damn eerie.

I came in here expecting a "My collection was destroyed by fire/water/locusts/environmentalists" thread. Glad to see that's not the deal.

Nice collection. Lots of stuff I'd love to have too. I seem to be focusing more on trinkets and accessories and licensed stuff lately than when I used to buy tons of games. I'm happier.

Soon I shall take my pictures.. soon my pretties..

I like the lifesize Spiderman. LOL Wasn't that a promo giveaway at Blockbuster?

That room looks like a freaking GameStop or rental place.

I LOVE the SMB Level 1-1 banner. How did you print it? I have all the SMB levels in GIF format and would do something similar if I had the means. How long is it? If I had to put a level on my wall, it'd be that one.

I found Spidey in the basement of one of the area Blockbusters. When they had gotten him in, his torso had fallen off and one of his arms was broken. It took some serious sucking up, but I got him and repaired him.

As for the SM banner, it is only a few feet long and made from sheets of photo paper carefully taped together. It was simple, but turned out pretty nice.
