So I open my inbox, which is again flooded with questions about my items I'm selling, which is no problem...I love answering questions!
Cept sometimes I get e-mails like this...

This message was sent while the listing was active.
shadowcrystals is a potential buyer.

EBAY RULES STATE THAT A BUYER HAS 7 DAYS TO PAY FOR AN ITEM. TELLING BUYERS THEY WIL GET REPORTED AFTER 72 HOURS IS NOT EBAY POLICY! EBAY WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO REPORT ANYONE AFTER 72 HOURS ANYWAY. POLICY IS 7 DAYS .... IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE 72 HOUR PAYMENT YOU POSTED AND THE NEAGTIVE FEEDBACK AND REPOST AFTER 72 HOURS I WOULD HAVE BID ON THIS ITEM...I THINK THAT'S WHY NO ONE HAS BID ON THIS...JUST A HELPFUL HINT! :) THANK YOU
Ugh, well, considering this hasn't been a problem in oh...6 years...I respond:
I'm sorry if you don't like my policy, but I've been selling for 6 years on
eBay and this has been my policy ever since. I do not report to eBay in 72
hours, I put my item back up for auction in 72 hours...I report after the
alloted time. Check other eBay auctions, lots of people have the same rules
I do.
Also, typing with your caps lock on does not make you get your point across
better, it's annoying and unprofessional, also pointing out my negative
feedback is moronic. I have 13 negative feedback and ONE THOUSAND ONE
HUNDRED AND TWELVE positive feedback, if you feel that my negative feedback
is an issue, than you need help.
Thank you for not bidding on my item, and thank you for leaving me a nice
letter I can post online and have a good laugh at with my friends. Have a
great day, oh, you've been blocked from bidding on my items.
~Chris
Oh the things I get sometimes. Figured you guys would enjoy that. :)

I think when he referred to "the negative feedback" he was probably talking about the fact that you say you will give negative feedback if a person has not responded within 72 hours, rather than about the negative feedback in your profile.
But yeah, good reply. 'shadowcrystals' eh? Think I'll pre-emptively ban him from bidding on my auctions too :)

I think 72hours is alittle short. Altho I usualy pay within 24 hours. Can be many reasons if a buyer doesnt answer/pay fast.

I'm sorry but I don't think 72 hours is unreasonable at all.

I think 72hr is more then reasonable, especially with paypal.

True, its not unreasonable, but I have understanding if some payments takes longer time. Sure, all sellers want the money fast, but I would have waited atleast 7 days before relisting :)
Edit: typo

I don't think it unreasonable to ask that someone contacts you within 72 hours of winning an auction - I request the same.
To request payment within 72 hours is only reasonable if you are only accepting Paypal or some other instantaneous payment service. I request that payment arrive within 10 days. That is more than enough ...

Remember that day you were describing what your avatar was, and then I said that I always thought it looked like PeeWee Herman with a wig on his head?
Your post makes me again believe that it is Peewee Herman with a wig on his head.

I'm having a hard time figuring out if you are insulting me or not. Which is it?
Also, I only accept Paypal, which I believe makes it reasonable to have a 72 hour payment requirement. Also, if someone buys something and e-mails me and explains they will be late with the payment, I've ALWAYS told them it was perfectly fine. If a seller wins an auction, and 3 days later they don't bother to contact me, I think it's perfectly within' my rights to list it again and leave them negative feedback.

72 hours is more then reasonable... I know a few sellers who ask buyers to pay within 24! I don't really mind how fast I have to pay, as I always pay with paypal the moment I buy something ^^

Leaving a negative after 72 hours is dumb, and it only serves to get you a negative back 9 times out of 10

Well considering I've done it plenty of times and haven't recieved a negative back, I think your estimation is a bit off.

You must just be very lucky, then what are your 13 negs for? Also if a seller threatens to neg after 72 hours in the auction (I know I wouldn't bid). I bet it just drives away most good bidders, and leaves you with the bad bidders who don't bother to read, think they can make up their own terms etc.

No No... not insulting you. I know my post was kind of 'out-there' but I thought it was funny.
All I was saying was I still think that avatar is of Peewee Herman because you're selling Peewee Herman DVD's.
I guess it didn't make sense.
carry on ;)

13 negs are over 6 years, most are retaliation for things other than my 72 hour payment policy and other random stupidity, only 2-3 I can actually say are MY fault. If this drives away many bidders, than why do my auctions always do so well?
Honestly, I think it's the GOOD bidders that pay for auctions promptly, not the ones that just sit around on there ass for a week before paying me. That's the kind of bidders I don't want, and those are bad bidders in my opinion.

You'd only be asking for trouble by letting someone like him bid. He was so much as saying that he'd be a deadbeat bidder.

If you're going to pay with paypal, you should pay asap after you win the auction. Most people will end up being near their computer when their items end, why not just pay at the moment of completion?
I pay within 5 minutes of auction finish, sellers love it. Don't bid on something if you don't have the funds, don't waste someone's time AND money- paypal is an expensive way to get payment, so if you're slow... that negates the only positive thing about the service!
Screw the bastard, I post the same thing: pay within 3 days if using paypal, EMAIL ME if you're going to pay with check or money order.
Alas... most people are morons.

If I am not mistaken, doesn't eBay rules allow TEN days to send payment? Or is the US eBay different slightly?
I get pissy sellers sometimes. If I haven't enough funds in my PayPal, it usually defaults to sending an eCheque ~ Thing is, these take about a week to clear. Then you get some nobby seller leaving negs after five days for payment not sent, when in fact payment has been sent (With a written confirmation) and is simply pending. To eBay, sending the eCheque is classed as payment sent

Some people don't carry a PayPal balance and may have their accounts linked to a debit card which is in turn linked to their checking account. Therefore some people may want to wait until Friday or whatever their payday is when they actually have money in their checking accounts before they pay for their win.

I was about to say something like that.
My auctions have a rule: I send the item as soon as I get the money. I allow e-checks (Paypal payments that take money from the user's bank account; I do not get the money until the transaction is approved), and I specify that the item will not ship until that is over with.
Most bidders ask me beforehand if they can take a bit to pay. I normally say no, unless I'm not in a hurry to get the money (which is why I allow echecks in the first place.)

I have a 3 days payment requirement on my auctions - have had forever - and no one has ever said anything. I also don't enforce it; if people need a little time to pay, then it's fine with me so long as they contact me.
I don't file with eBay until 1.5 weeks after the end anyway, and I never relist until I get my first auction's fees back. Sucks that it takes longer, but the process sometimes nets payments that wouldn't have come if I had just relisted at the end of three days.

I always pay within a few minutes of an auctions end, not just to make the seller happy, but because I like getting my stuff ASAP. ( Death to slow shippers!) :texaschain:

I took a look at your auctions. Most of what you have listed are common DVDs.
Have you tried Amazon?
Anything that has a US barcode and is valued more for the intrinsic content than collectibility, I list on Amazon. I use eBay for import stuff and the serious collector market, but overall I prefer Amazon's service to eBay: easier to list and next to no drama.
Best of all, Amazon gets the payments at the time of sale, and you get paid whenever you want or your balance is swept into your checking account every two weeks. TRY IT!
