Best I ever got was a positive one that read:

"what you not bad, if as I buyer good are A******"

although there are some at that link that are the best I have ever seen!

I think pre-1999, ebay was not transaction-based, so you could leave a feedback for any other member on the site, even if you hadn't dealt with them..

Yeah, back in the early days, it was optional to include the item number - meaning that you didn't have to have one. Some of my early fb doesn't include numbers.
