PLEASE use the search freature since this has come up more than once. In fact I believe that this is the same problem that godsey1 had with the SCD that I sold him and I know he set up a thread for it.

Clean both connectors.

I don't mean to argue with the omnedon, but if it is in fact the connectors between the Sega CD and Genesis, why does it work for a little while? You kinda make it sound like the connection is good for a few minutes, then it will suddenly choose to go bad.

Just wondering. I do agree though that if the connectors have not had at least some basic cleaning, they should be cleaned!

I cleaned the sega cd and it doesn't work at all now except for the space theme. I searched the forums it seems I may have a bad cd rom drive.

Haven't you ever been paying an NES game where everything is working fine for 10 minutes or so, then the graphics get all garbled for a moment, go back to being fine, then garbled again and the game locks up? Same thing, an I/O error between either side of the connectors caused by foreign material (ie. dirt / dust).

I'm sure that omnedon was just starting at the top of the diagnostics list with checking out the simplest things first - which is the most prudent means of repair.

Nope. I have never had that problem on my NES, which BTW still has it's origional 72-pin connector meaning that it can be somewhat hard to get games to start sometimes but if any connector you would think that an old and origional one would be the one to mess up, and I have never had this problem on any of my other cart based systems or on my Sega CDs with their connector pins.

Guess I may just be that sweetly lucky, eh? 8-)

Hi again David. It wasn't me that got the SCD from you. The CDX that I bought, was from a local seller, and omnedon could not fix it :( .

I guess that I will be looking for a system board for it.

I hope that your problem will be an easy fix,

Tony
