okay, say you acquire a mass seemingly unlimited sum of wealth, and...you find someone who will sell you two copies of every single video game ever made, one factory sealed, and the other copy CIB...and you buy it..along with every single proto ever made and other promotional ideas...do you sit down and begin your quest to actually PLAY these games, or do you move onto something else...or do you open up a museum to show this off...or do you just...collect something else?

This sounds like a question Harry Carey would pose LOL
I couldn't care less about modern games, so if I had the means to own every 8 and 16 bit game in existence, my winters would be spent in seclusion doing hardcore gaming and my summers would be spent travelling and doing other generally non-gaming activities that only the wealthy can afford to do. Mabye I'd be a philanthropist; a kick ass philanthropist! (in the words of George Costanza).
Now... how do I get from here to there? :hmm:

No kidding. If I had that much money I would pretty much game 8 hours a day with hookers feeding me grapes until the day I die.

I already have a tough time picking out a game to play among the 700 I own...I find myself sitting their staring at them for about 15 minutes, before finally deciding to play something. Couple that scenario with me owning every game know to man...and I would just sit their indefinatly...staring...thinking...wondering what to play. :hmm:

You give the mother of all acceptance speeches like you just won the lifetime achievement award somewhere in lala land. You begin with a thorough history of what got you gaming. Then you progress at sloooow rate. Think Academy Awards speech pace. Don't leave anyone out, especially haters.

Play all of the CIBs.
Then build a massive fort in the backyard with all of the factory sealed copies. Hell. Build two. Invite some friends over and fling sealed R10's at each other until one of the castle walls topples over. Games are meant to be played with, even when they're sealed. :D

Well, I guess I'll have to work hard all my life -so hard that I'll have no more time to play- to refund the loan my bank gave me LOL

Theoreticly its possible, but you would probly use half your life getting all games. So if you do it you probly in a nursing home waiting for a dipearchange hehe.

I would not want to buy them in a huge lot like that.
I mean where is the fun in that ? Half of the fun is in the hunt for my collection. Unless of course this was forced on me , then I would play everything of course and probably open up my own hockey / sports facility. :)

The best thing about video games, is that they are still producing titles at an alarming rate. Therefore to own every single game, you would have to be continually buying games as they came out.

Well, since I'm getting two copies of every game ever made the museum idea will come into play. I would want the world to see the history of gaming, and through emulation machines they could actually play some of the games if not all.
I would at least try to play every game, I wouldn't make the promise of finishing them, but I would give it my best shot.

First, I would hire workers to build me a huge house in my back yard. Then, I would buy millions of bookcases, and store all my games there. I would set up a play to play them there too. Then get some heating in the place, and some AC. Then, by a seceraty (sp) system, so no one could rob my place. Then, I would go on to collect all the new games to be released.

Start a Museum with the sealed copies.
Use the CIB Copies so the People at the Museum can Play all of these Games.
Also Use Some of the Money from People Comming to the Museum to get the New Releases.

Wonder why people have stopped making games, then sell my collection to finance the creation of more.

Of course thats just Step one of the inital plan.. step two is to obtain every vido game copy ever made, and after that you burn/destroy everything except a couple of the best copys of each game for yourself. And after that you sell the worst copy of each game on ebay and make yourself the richest person in the world, therefor having your cake and eating it too, i dont know what everyone else would do without their video games, i guess they would just have to try and steal one of the few copys left.

So...what happens after you obtain every single video game?
Fulfilled, and with no purpose left in life, you die.
That'll never happen anyway. Even when you think you've collected every game for every system, new games are coming out every week. It's easy for me to understand owning a complete collection of games for any system with a finite list - Dreamcast, NES, ColecoVision, these are all retired systems. Some homebrews now and then sure, but it all depends on how you define "complete." If you only define it as official retail or mail-order releases, it's conceivable for any system to have "one of everything" if it's no longer in production. Can I imagine having every X-Box game though? Even 15 years from now when they're not reselling for today's prices, there would be an X-Box 18000 with new games each week. So basically if "everything" means "everything" then you'll never die - the quest will NEVER end.

Then I start the task of putting at least a few minutes into each. :P
Then I start collecting every soundtrack, every game-related manga, every figure, so on and so on... Until I have collected every video game related item in the entire universe. O_O
Then with my unlimited wealth I attempt to solve all of the world's financial problems, I invest money into everything that need researching and development, and I wait for scientists to discover the secret of immortality so I can fully play every game I have. o_o And I need them to discover a way that I could die when I choose if I ever get sick of it all or until I've beaten everything, whichever comes first.

I'd kill myself for not having all the consoles to play the games on.
LOL
Silly topic. Unless your filthy rich, you'll never have all the games out there. There are too many hidden, protos and the like to be found (and still are).
