Been hunting through ebay for the last couple of weeks and all I've found are the third party ones. I've had extremely bad luck with *all* third party hardware I've ever bought for all my systems, so I only want an official sega one. I would prefer it to come with the box+manual (if it came with one?) just because I'm picky about that sort of thing (I kept my DC controller and VMU boxes too...).

I'm not sure I've ever seen a first party VGA adapter through many years of DC collecting - but I guess they exist.
For what it's worth, I use a fairly decent third party that has a switch for inputs (so I can have the computer and the DC hooked up at the same time) - it's worked well. Don't remember the name, and it's buried at the moment, but thought I might share.

First party VGA adapters exist. They regularly go for upwards of $60 on eBay.

Wow, they really go for that much? Maybe I should have jumped on the one I saw a couple weeks ago, but it was buy it now for around 25 pounds (UK seller), so that's ~$45, plus he wanted 15 pounds for international shipping, that's ~$25, and I figured "$70? I'm sure I can get it much cheaper than that...". I guess that wasn't too bad of a deal after all. :/

I don't look for VGA adapters; I have one for myself and that's enough. I've probably bought/sold (in conjunction with other items) 10-15 adapters representing maybe 4-5 makes, but never an official brand. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

I'd love to find the Sega one too. But was it ever sold here? Even the official ones I've seen (like the one in that auction) have Japanese writing on it. Is that how they were sold here? Or are there English language versions that were sold in the US?
