I could be wrong, but I thought that was only for the dev kits...

That's an unconfirmed photo. Currently all 360's in the wild are suppose to be Dev kits or display models. Neither of which are representative of the final product.

However on the off chance that block really is the 360 PSU i certainly won't mind. It's huge, but it's a psu and i've already built a little shelf to hold my PS2 and GC PSU, so it'll fit nicely. What would be really nice though would be if that thing has screw holes on the side so that i could, mount it on side of the cabnit.

Even if it is a legit picture what's the big deal? The power has to come from somewhere's doesn't it?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was that big. Look at PC's, for the newest videocards you have to update the power supplies.

yes but the powersupplies remain in the case like they very well should, theres no reason to have a wall wart any more technology has gotten so much better than that...having it on a cord or on the plug is just a sign of lazyness on the devlopers behalf

I thought so as well , but even if that is the end PSU , I wont mind because it just sits behind my entertainment center anyhow ;)

More failure-prone too. You'd have to open up/replace the console to fix the PSU. I'd really would rather have it on the outside.

Good point. With the defunct PS2 PSU we can just swap it, but with the Xbox one, all we get is an Arc-Fault interrupter.

having a power supply external like that should help keep the audio/video circuits slightly less noisy too.

I don't get the belly-aching over it. Personally I'd much rather have the power supply outside the unit rather than inside it. If your Gamecube gets hit by a power surge, you spend $20 and buy a replacement power adapter. If your Xbox/ps2 gets hit, unless you're tech-savvy and have a good source for parts, you either ship it off to a repair center or wait for the proper parts to come in and fix it yourself (voiding any warranty you had left in the process). Like Cap'n Ninty said up above, in my situation it's going to be behind the entertainment center anyway, so what's it matter?

My only beef with external power suppliy bricks like that is when they, as on most cheap AC Adapters, are placed on the plug. If the block is inline, like the Atari 5200 adapter, I think it's a good idea for all the reasons already mentioned.

However, when the plug itself is a huge block, we all know how it takes up multiple outlets and is a true PITA.
