Now that we know both PS3 and Rev are not comming out until nex year, how do you think this will effect the Xbox and their plan? Will the xbox look like a previous gen machine?

to me it seems like sex box is too eager to come busting out first and i expect and hope it bites them in the ass when the others come out

This may be the Dreamcast all over again. It gets stuck in the middle and people hold out to see all the cards on the table before betting. Once the PS3 and Revo are out, the Xbox360 will at least feel dated.
MS has to do their homework better - even though they seem to have learned some new lessons.

Expecting the same. People just want something new now. But have way higher hopes and expectation in the other machines, PS3 and Revolution.

To me, it really seems like Xbox360 is more Xbox 1.5 than Xbox 2.0

YES, same felling went over me as before I clicked post,
However I was reading the other thread "MS plays up PS# delays" in which you had the last post.
I was going to post there but I'll say it here. That on the other hand this will give MS some needed experience or at least lets them hit the ground running in the race.
Maybe Nintendo isn't as stupid as they look. They will probably release Zelda TLP and hold some Xbox consumers back when there's nothing to play. Considering that Xbox won't launch anything that looks too much better than Zelda. I really think once Zelda Comes out, we are going to see the actual power Zelda has on many consumers. It's gonna be huge! People are going to preorder this as if it were drugs.

Ahhh mannn...
LATER half! I was so pumped on it coming out in March. It seems like Nintendo is pushing everything back, like the release date of Twilight Princess as well.
Many of the public are already hooked on Microsoft though and they're no doubt banking on the strong following created by franchises such as Halo, not to mention the drug known as Xbox Live. The only thing that I find strange is their need to release a core system. Other than that, their early jump out of the gate will serve them well.
People get bored so quickly these days and will buy the 360 en masse if only because it's something new this holiday season. You will most likely find plenty of used Xbox 360s in shops next year as people then sell them to finance their PS3 or Revolution. The general public usually doesn't build huge game libraries and so, unless they have Live, will have nothing worth hanging onto when they consider dumping their 360s.
I shall score a perfectly good year-old 360 in the latter half of next year. LOL

I think it's smart for Nintendo to wait until late next year, or at least fall. Afterall, they need time to launch Zelda, and the more saturation the DS Wi-Fi gets, the easier the Revo will be to sell.
Microsoft is definately risking a Dreamcast repeat. Even the games are similarly aimed at older male gamers. What they really need is a year of just amazing games with jaw dropping visuals to establish that the extra year does not make the PS3/Revo more powerful.
I don't know how long the Xbox360 has had dev kits out there, but one can assume the extra year (with the ability to watch the 360 games) can only help Sony and Nintendo.

Releasing a year early did not hurt ps2. Don't see why /X360 would be hurt?

My points exactly. You would think, they would have learned from Sega's mistakes, but I guess not. People will "ooo, and ahhh" over it for about 3 months after it's out. Then it will just be "there" everyone will be talking about the PS3, and the Revolution.

just so you know, according to a sony salesman i talked to the PS3 won't be out before fall 2006 in europe too :/
This isn't really that surprising. They still have to release the new Zelda. It wouldn't make much sense if they released Twilight Princess one month and then 1-2 months later released their brand new system. I'm still thinking perhaps they will wait and release it on the Revolution instead of the Gamecube.

I was in TRU yesterday for the green tag sale and the two ladies in front of me were definitely buying pokemon XD gamecube bundles. So chalk up two to GC over the 360 in a TRU.

I don't think it matters when anything has come out. The PS2 came out a year earlier with games like Fantavision, and here it is, still on top. And for it being the next Dreamcast, I realize thats a bad thing, but think about it. How many of you worship the DC as the best system ever made? A lot of people.

off topic:
Did you see the deal TRU is running on that. 4 games and system for $129 not to bad.
Back to topic.
Seeing that I try not to buy any thing at release anyway, it don't really matter when they come out.
On the other hand, with such a later release of the other 2 systems, The 360 might be due for its first price cut at that point. Making people think its worth picking up .

I just can’t believe how much of a cluster-f this whole thing is. I would say the 360 is going to take a BIG punch to the balls in a few years. It’s the fact the Xbox is currently one of the most powerful systems out that’s keeping it alive (that and cookie cutter FPS titles via Xbox live). If the PS3 and Revolution are monsters, the 360 could land up looking like a chump in the long run.

MS should just delay and hold off abit with the rest of the pack :P
It's been too many consoles and handhelds in the last few years IMO. To many good systems flop in a flood'd console market in the past, Could be a fatal mistake for the 360.

I think Microsoft should take some time with the 360, make the games have better graphics, make the gameplay better, and just work harder on these games. It really is going to be the Xbox 1.5 because i saw the graphics and the games, they don't look too incredible. On the other hand you have the Revolution. Nintendo is going to hit it really big with this system. You have a new Super Smash Bros. game, Mario games, Metroid games, and even good 3rd party titles. I think the winner of the next gen consoles battle will be the Revolution.

Now all the revo needs is some sort of communication to the DS and we've got a killer console. (THIS IS MY ORIGINAL IDEA AND IF NINTENDO USES IT THEY COPIED ME) :D :D :D

To me, it really seems like Xbox360 is more Xbox 1.5 than Xbox 2.0
I don't understand this mentality people have. How is that the case, and if so, how is the PS2 not a PS1.5, or the Genesis not a SMS1.5? I'm not dogging you or attacking you specifically, I'd just like to know why/what is your thought behind that statement?
If people are saying it's an Xbox 1.5 because the graphics are only slightly better, the same can be said of ANY system at its launch. We all know 1st generation games on a new console are hardly any indication of what a system can really do. The launch games for the PS2 did not graphically look that much better than DC games.
I can see where some people are coming from when saying the 360 is launching too early like the DC did. I do agree, I feel the current Xbox is still impressive and developers could still squeeze some new life/tricks out of it, while the launch lineup for the 360 was fleshed out and polished more.
Nevertheless, the 360 will be here in just about a month, like it or not, but I don't feel it's going to suffer the same fate the DC did. I don't think the PS3 or Revolution are really THAT much more powerful that the 360 and the multimedia and Live aspects of the 360 are going to help it, if only a little.
