No one else has commented, so I thought I'd kick it off.

I love this damn game!! So worth the fifty bucks! Also very faithful to the movie. Even down using most of the actual film cast as voiceovers. A few camera issues, but still not too detracting. The tagging system is impressive.

Some moves literally hurt to watch performed ('specially getting smacked with a bottle). And for you lucky Xbox owners with a 720p HDTV... The opening movie alone... 8-)

you may have a different opinion, of course. But I love this game!

can you create your own gang and play online to fight for territory? That would be really cool.

That would be really awesome!

So what does the game play like? I just watched the movie last weekend and loved it.

I gave this a rental, and I'm quite happy with it so far.

Tons of combos, a fun fighting system and unique controls for the other actions that you can accomplish.

The graphics are nice and the co-op is really fun.

This is what State of Emergency should have been.

I rented the game today and played it for a couple hours. Some quick impressions:

+They really nailed the atmosphere for this one. They treat the source material with so much respect you'd think it was a Star Wars game.

+For the second time in the history of gaming, I actually like the cutscenes (the 1st time was Sword of the Berzerk). It's almost like watching a prequel. Solid.

+Music = lots of 70s soul, and the movie's synth soundtrack. Can you dig it?

+Short learning curve. You will be murdering everyone in sight in no time.

-Although I enjoyed the cutscenes, there are still way too many of them. The game is basically watch a cutscene, perform specified controller actions, beat people up. Repeat.

-You start the game as Rembrandt.

-Speaking of Rembrandt, there's lots of grafitti tagging, and they actually found a way to make it more annoying than it is in Jet Grind Radio. Can someone explain to me what's fun about spray painting with an analog stick?

-The usual issues with EVERY OTHER GAME OF THIS KIND EVER MADE...camera and group attacks. I don't know what the answer is, but I've never seen a game where you can hold off multiple attackers without a screwed up camera and a bunch of bad collision detection.

Verdict: Definitely worth a rental, and if you're a fan of the flick make it ASAP. Not worth $50.

UPDATE!! And it's not a good one....

I just got to "Sharp Dressed Man", right before the cutscene when you enter the disco. The game completely froze up. I reset my Xbox. Replayed the game to the same point... It froze again.

Has this happened to anyone else? My game froze up on the pause screen the other day, as well. I didn't make much of it because I was in the hangout.

please - someone else tell me they've had this happen to them, as well. I really like this game, and don't wanna have to take it back.

I think you'll have to take it back the manufacturing process isn't perfect... I've heard allot of talk about beating the game on other boards

It could be a corrupted save you could try going to gamefaqs and requesting one for the stage you were on?

I hope the disk isn't scratched?

I'm definitely going to have to check this one out. I've never seen the movie, but I do love my beat-em-ups, and this one seems to have fared much better than Beatdown and Urban Reign did. It's about time we got a good beat-em-up! :D

There was what looked like an eyelash or a small nick on the inside of the plastic of the disc. I took it back and got a new copy. Works fine now. At least I didn't have to start over... @_@

That was still weird.

oh good

at least you didn't get a pissy sales rep trying to tell you scratched it.....

game sounds good, I've heard lots of complaints about it not being a true beat em up because of all the breaks in gameplay... mini games etc

but the unlockable battle modes should make up for that right? Oh well gotsta get this game.
