I just got Sonic Adventure today and loving it so far. What do you think were the high and bad points of Adventure 1 and 2?
Also, if there's another new Sonic game, how would you design it? Would it be old-school side-scroller or set up like the Adventure series, or both, or something completely new?

I really didn't like sonic adventure. At least not the dreamcast version. It's way too fast and confusing to be in 3D.
I like the 2D games of sonic and I would love to see a new 2D sonic for the next gen consoles. It should look like a cartoon. With a dozen of different backgrounds shifting behind each other. No slowdown in the game whatsoever and Just sonic to play with. No crappy sidekicks.

I've yet to play Sonic Adventure 2, but I really enoyed the first Adventure. There were a lot of little moments that stuck out for me, like the different environments and the city. Playing through the game with the other characters was pretty cool, but over way too soon; I even liked fishing with the cat.
Overall, I liked that Sonic Team took the Sonic character into the 3-D realm, ala Mario/Zelda 64, and gave it a unique style. Fairly appropriate for a character that was AWOL for years.
As for the next inevitable sequel, I've thought a lot about this, and I think the perfect Sonic would be one in the style of NiGHTS. I was always struck by the pseudo-polygon design of the Genesis Sonics, and even though Sonic Adventure was very good, it lacked that rush of speed that is the series' trademark. I think the way Sonic Team designed the NiGHTS worlds -- a 2-D track in a 3-D world -- is the perfect template for the modern 2-D videogame. A new Sonic, then, would retain the play and perspective of the Genesis classics, with the 3-D polygon look of NiGHTS. Hell, you could just use polygons to recreate the original games themselves -- package a double bill of Sonic CD and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and I'm sold.
Anyway, that's my two cents.

my friend and I were constantly trying to upgrade our caios. I finally beat the game, and found no point in it anymore.

No camera has infuriated me more than that of Sonic Adventure 2.

Unfortuntely my copy of Sonic Adventure 1 won't play in my DC. I never bothered returning it 'cause it was only $7 anyway, but as far as I can tell it *should* play (the disc isn't overly scratched).
I've played the demo of SA2 that comes with PSO and can't say I was overly impressed with it. I wouldn't say it sucked but I wouldn't rave about it either.
It seems to me that a 3D Sonic game would be tougher to do properly than a 3D Mario game say. Sonic was about speed in 2D. I haven't seen speed done in 3D properly. Maybe it should've been a 2D game but larger or something.

Not even Hasbro's Frogger remake? ;)
