Heya folks! I'am here to speak about a Black Sheep! Yes, I mean.. Tigers Game.Com! the little handheld that could'nt! No matter how hard it tried!

However, I own one with a sizeable collection of games. So I wanted to go over them, about the games that make this system worth a purchase if you ever run across one!

Duke Nukem 3D

The PC Game hits the Game.Com and makes one of the Systems best games! it isn't a full fledged '3D World' here.. and rather your always facing forward and you move around "On a grid" in a FPS Prespective, a lot like old RPG Dungeon Crawlers, except with a gun! Rooms are joined by short movie sequenceslike going down a spiral hallway!

Scrabble

The best home version in my opinon. It's the classic word game and the stylus makes playing it fun and very easy. The computer players may or may not challenege your words and stuff like that.

Resident Evil 2

The Surprise release. a Surprisingly okay port of Resident Evil 2! It's like RE2 Mini and a lot of the stuff from the PSX game in terms of map layout is here, so you'll find your way around easily. It's fun having this game portable.

Monopoly

Like Scrabble, whats not to love? it's a pretty good port of Monopoly, complete with Piece animations walking along the way! It's not the best, but it's acceptable!

Indy 500

A Good Racing game! Spinouts, Turns, it's all here! This game has a unique style that is just Awesome!

These are just little pieces! and of course there are more that could be here! So tell me, what games do you think were actually done well on this systems? Or perhaps, you'd like to list what games killed the system? *cough*SonicJam*cough*

I am very sorry to hear that you are losing your battle with alcoholism, Rocky. I hope you get back on the wagon.

I try to find good things to say about all gaming systems, but I have problems coming up with compliments for ye olde Game.com.

I haven't played Scrabble or Monopoly, but I'd be willing to concede that it's possible they might be fun based on the fact that they are based on board games. I like Monopoly on the old Gameboy, so I could see it being decent. Same for Scrabble.

Indy 500 can best be described as a large turd in a very small plastic case. I would have to deem it THE WORST handheld racer I have ever played. The handling of the racers can best be described as "theoretical." You're right about the "unique style" of this game, my furry friend.

I feel that Duke Nukem 3D is unsurprisingly dreadful. I remember seeing an ad for it and being wowed that this portable could pull off a port of Duke 3D, but then I saw it in action. I know it's not a REAL 3D game, but I think it makes a poor facsimile of one, too. It was an interesting concept but it ain't the Duke I know and love on the Saturn. A VERY stupid drooling distant cousin, maybe, but not the Duke or even the Mini-Duke.

I feel like insulting the hell out of Resident Evil 2 'cause I just KNOW it's dreadful, but I haven't played it so I can't pass judgement. Dammit!

How about Wheel of Fortune? I've never played it, but it looks like the type of game (ie "slow moving") that could have been decent.

This site has a lot of Game.com screen shots... the ones of Resident Evil 2 look intriging enough to make me want to check it out...

It's the SCREEN, man, the SCREEN. Any game that requires speed is screwed. Wasn't Frogger made for the Game.com? How's that? I'll bet it's easy to get killed with all that blurring going on in different directions. "I got killed jumping on what I thought was a log but turned out to be a trailing blurr." LOL

Now put that bottle down and try the NeoGeo Pocket! If I could only get it backlit...

I found the best game on the system is probably the built in Solitaire. Seriously, its pretty good. The timer keeps it challenging and the touch screen saves it from the tedious control issues that plauge every other version of the game that doesn't support a mouse.

Also, I found there was fun to be had in Sinistar for Williams Arcade Classics. Its worth noting that Sinistar is the only good game on that collection. How the hell to you make a decent Sinistar but mess up Joust?

Its also worth stating that while these games and the ones listed above are decent, there are no killer apps for Game.com. Probably the highest they go is a 7 on a 10 point scale. Considering how hamstrung the system was from a technical standpoint, RE2 and Solitaire probably do the best job of avoiding the weak areas of the hardware and playing to its strengths.

LOL

500 meseta for that!

Seriously, Indy is terrible. You have no idea where you're going, opposing cars attach like magnets to cause crashes, and there's zero sense of speed since there's only like three frames of animation trying to work as scaling.

The multi-plane movement makes RE2 a pain in the ass to control, even more than the PS versions. Great audio though when there actually is some.

I second Wheel of Fortune, Scrabble, and Lights Out.

Was Castlevania SOTN ever released for GAME.COM?

No, it wasn't. Neither was Metal Gear Solid or any of the other neat liscensed games they were advertising that probably would have played like poo had they actually come out.

Keep in mind that Tiger did all their own programming. They just bought the rights to other companies liscenses. So if you, rightfully, think Sonic Jam is a turd, don't blame Sega. Castlevania SOTN would have been horrible.

Was Castlevania SOTN ever released for GAME.COM?

nope

I like lights out.

Let's see, lost world was almost fun. the thing that was bad about it was the scrolling. when you started to move, the game would scroll in such a way that it would make everything on the screen look blurry. if they would have gotten that fixed, lost world would have been awesome.

i liked batman and robin

Slightly off topic, but check out the pics of the Game King on that website. The Game.com looks like a turbocharged supercomputer powered by the hand of god in comparison. The F1-race clone is undoubtedly one of the most pathetic things I've seen in awhile.
