Hi. I keep running across these same games on multiple systems, but I only want the best version of each game. So I thought I'd ask the people who know. Ex: Batman Returns (Genesis) < Batman Returns (Sega CD). So here are the games that I am curious about:

-Pitfall
-Primal Rage
-Space Harrier
-Chuck Rock
-Virtua Racing
-Lost Vikings
-B.O.B
-Donkey Kongs (SNES vs GBA)
-Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy

Space Harrier - Shenmue on the Dreamcast followed by the Saturn version and then the 32x version.

Virtua Racing - 32x version by a mile. The PS2 version is nice..it's not really the same game. Driving model is totally different. Saturn version has some nice tracks, but a horrible engine so it runs slooooooooooooooow. Genesis version..eh...at least it's fast.

Donkey Kong Country - SNES version. Bigger screen and better graphics.

-Chuck Rock
-Virtua Racing
-Lost Vikings
-B.O.B
-Donkey Kongs (SNES vs GBA)

Pitfall - Origional. Although Pitfall II is much better
Primal Rage - 32X I guess
Donkey Kongs - SNES by far.

What's the best (in order) versions of Flashback? Been meaning to pick that one up (I played it on SNES back in the day).

You know, I often have similar questions myself. I saw somewhere on this site an article/review of Raiden that compared all the versions against one another as objectively as possible. Is there a spot on this site I'm missing that specializes in that sort of thing...if not I'd be a cool idea.

I never played the SNES version of Flashback, but I did prefer the Genesis version over the Sega CD and 3DO versions. The tiny and pointless FMV sequences really didn't fit with the in game presentation and drew me out of the story, plus no load times made it much smoother.

This is the order: Vitua Racing Arcade Deluxe > Vitua Racing Arcade Twin > Vitua Racing Arcade Stand-Up > Virtua Racing 32X > Vitrua Racing Genesis > Vitua Racing PS2 > Vitua Racing Saturn. The saturn version was horrid to me. I couldn't stand it. Why didn't AM2 do this one?! Gotta get the Arcade Deluxe one. 7 speed butterfly shifter, moving seat, air blower and 32" monitor for the display. Can't beat the beauty of the thing. Not much comes that close except this: http://www.system16.com/namco/hrdw_medium.html#rrfs Check that out!

Virtua Racer-Sega Classics collection (PS2) by far

also the Segaages redux version of Space Harrier on the sega classics collection is also very well done, but as far as arcade perfect in the home goes I would have to agree with the Shenmue version also.

I totally forgot to mention the 3d Sega Ages Space Harrier. I loved it quite a bit, but the auto fire, lock on laser, and flash bombs made the game a bit too easy. Still, awesome update to the game and probably one of the best of the 3d sega ages discs (not as good as the new Gain Ground, though ;) ).

-Pitfall Atari 2600
-Primal Rage <---Sega 32X or Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for Xbox/PS2
-Space Harrier <--- Shenmue or Shenmue 2 or 32X
-Chuck Rock <--- SNES
-Virtua Racing <--- 32X
-Lost Vikings <---- SNES
-B.O.B <--- SNES
-Donkey Kongs (SNES vs GBA) <--- SNES always
-Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy <--- Xbox

As for Space Harrier, I honestly didn't like the 3D Ages that much, I'm so used to the original as it was.

Thanks. I never really understood the draw of having six versions of the same game. This helps me alot.
