Does having the official guide to a game make the price raise if you are selling? If it does, does it significantly raise the price?

It depends. If it's a common game like Madden, then no, not significantly. It might let you raise the price an extra 2 bucks or so, but not that much. If it's something rare, like Valkyrie Profile, then yes, having the guide in addition to the game will allow you to get a good chunk in addition to what the game regularly draws.

I'm not a strategy guide expert but from what I see they usually sell for $5-10 depending on the game. Some RPG strategy guides like those for Squaresoft games go in the $20-40 range.
You can search the completed auctions on ebay for the average price of the guide, and then add it to the average price of the game itself to get a ballpark figure of what to expect.
If it's a common game/guide I'd bundle it together. If it's one of the more valuable strategy guides I'd sell it separately as those are of more interest to collectors who already have the game.

Thx guys.
The guides are for RPG's. Final Fantasy III in general. I have a complete copy of the game but the guide.

Some strategy guide complete the game for hardcore collectors, RPG's and 2D fighter guide's help to sell overall, but may not raise the price.
Wouldn't you perfer both over just the game if the price was basically the same, even if only a few dollars more?

Selling on eBay, a yardsale, to your friend, what? And just because a guide is unofficial doesn't necessarily mean it's worth less than the official guide.

Indeed. Generally, you'll end up getting more money if you sell a valuable game and guide separately. However, if it seems like it would be tough to sell the guide or the game on its own, in the case of low value stuff, then you'd be better off combining them.
