Do you play a series in order? Or do you play it out of order depending on which title you purchase first?
I'm sure most people could pick up a game like Super Mario Bros. 3 first and still be good at the original Super Mario Bros. back in the day, but the way that today's controls become more intricate as the series go on the next installment might make that harder.
For instance, I bought Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal for $15 when it made it to Greatest Hits. I played this game for the first time yesterday and I don't get why this series is supposed to be so good. The jokes aren't funny at all. Perhaps, if I had played the first two games, I might enjoy it, but the controls suck IMO.
On a related note, I played through about 5 hours of Shadow Hearts: Covenant yesterday and I really enjoyed it. I'm wondering if I would enjoy it even more if I had played the first game in the series first...
