it makes me sad really that nintendo isnt getting the big bucks for that title =P , but are you betting people are gonna be going crazy over it once the ps2 release hits?

Sadly enough, I put off buying RE4 to wait for the PS2 just so I wouldn't have to hook up the Cube again.

Sorry, Cube lovers, but my GC went back in the box shortly after I got tired of the Zelda pack-in disc and Mega Man Anniversary Collection (passed on the better PS2 version just to have something elst to play on GC). Wasn't anything else I wanted.

Lously exclusives? Well, at the time, it was the only exclusive. I'm sure it will get more players, because of the sheer number of PS2's out there to the GC. Graphically wise, the game is so much worse than the GC version.

I'll take 20 trees in a zone, and prettier looking gameplay, not to mention with the best control set up, to getting 7 trees instead, worse graphics, slower loads, awkward controls any day.

If you played Metroid prime it would not be put in the box. That game kicks serious ass (im only going by what you are saying and that you played 2 games for the GC).

GC does have lots of great games, most of them first party. Its sad to see people not realize that because they are such ardent Nintendo haters.

RE4 is simply the best Gamecube game...ever.

I will be buying the PS2 version this week as well. I've played the Gamecube version to death and am looking forward to the new additions Capcom included.

Besides, with the larger potential audience, Capcom will finally make some $$$ from this game and might get RE5 out the door a little faster.

I replaced my Cube with an N64 - better exclusives.

I don't like FPS, never even considered Metriod Prime. Pity, because I love the earlier metroids.

(And actually, I also got P.N.03 and Beyond Good & Evil on the Cube, but both of them I could have bought for PS2 as well.)

Metroid Prime's not a FPS.

It's an adventure game in the same style as Super Metroid - search for the hidden pieces.

Sorry, I guess I should have said "I don't like games where you run from room to room (some of which may be hidden) using a first-person viewpoint and shoot a lot of monsters... And I don't like FPS either. LOL

Seriously, I never played this, so if you tell me there is a third-person option, I might be interested.

Yeah i mean,, You waited 4 months or so, just so you didnt have to hook up a whole 2 cables???
I enjoyed the gamecube version very much and so did
my friends, and they all own a playstation 2 (at the time, they were playing stuff like "Mercenaries" and "silent hill 4")
I'm a gamer, and when a game like RE4 comes out i have to check it out. I checked it out months ago and see no reason to check it out again just because it came out on another system.

That's right! I got >40 unopened games so don't need RE4. I can wait

"..... run from room to room using first-person viewpoint and [search for hidden equipment pieces]." - same as super metroid but different view

Third-person mode? A lot of the speed-runners use the 3rd-person ball mode for 90% of the game - okay that's a stretch. ;)

- Third-person or first-person doesn't matter to me. Some of my favorite games (ace combat, star wars arcade, star raiders) are 1st-person. Do you not like these games?

okay I like my GC and i will never sell it but I have to say that I havn't touched my cube since Jan 2005, and before that I only played it MGS The Twin Snakes came out.

sorry but I have to say that Nintendo totally sucked this generation, even worst then N64

Mario Sunshine sucked ass, live with it.

Windwaker, M P and Mp2 & Pikmin 2 were great. I am sorry but GC is the worst system to own if you only want to own one system.

re: n64 vs. cube - The Cube had weaker nintendo titles but more third-party ports and a larger library - so say the defenders of the cube.

Metroid Prime's not a FPS.
LOL .

Nintendo says Super metroid = "third-person adventure" and MetroidPrime = "first-person adventure".

You dispute Nintendo's own statements?

?

Or judging by some of your other posts, only when it suits your own agenda. WOAH. Where's that coming from? Jeez.

To me a First-person shooter's purpose is killing people but That's not the point of Metroid. Metroid = Hide-n-Seek. Programmers hide equipment pieces & the player seeks them out - an adventure game.

so yeah I agree with nintendo's statement Metroid Prime = "fiirst person adventure" = Super Metroid in 3D.

You can 't be serious, I hate the N64, it's the only console which I sold within a month after purchase. Can count the good exclusives on one hand, on cube i have PSO III, Beach Spikers, Animal Crossing, Doshin the Giant, Pikmin 1 and 2, Tales of Symphony, F-Zero GX and much more.

You view is valid. Here's mine

Cube exclusives that i liked
----------------
skies of arcadia legends
eternal darkness
luigi's mansion

N64 exclusives
---------------
banjo kazooie
banjo tooie
mario 64
zelda ocarina of time
zelda majora's mask
beetle racing
ogre battle 64

Probably some more games I forgot but you see I prefer N64.

Diff'rent strokes.

First off, Metroid Prime is an FPA.

First Person Adventure, not FPS. Nintendo has said this numerous times. They did not want it being labled as an FPS. Crazy.

Also, if Mario Sunshine and Wind Waker are lousy, shit son, I don't want to live in this world.

What's good, GTA? Har Har.

kevin_psx
10-26-2005, 01:45 PM
Sorry. "lousy" was too strong a word. "mediocere" is better. Sunshine = boringly repetitive - only part of the game I liked were the 3D no-watergun levels

Wind Waker = difficulty set for 10-yr-olds - too easy for me - not worth replaying

I like the N64 Mario, Banjo, and Zelda games much much better!

Funny how this degenerated into a Nintendo war...

Anyway, Big N can call Metroid Prime whatever they like, but it doesn't change reality. It's a FPS. It's in first-person. You have an omnipresent gun sticking out of the bottom of the screen. You shoot things.
Puzzle elements don't change it. Finding the missile upgrade is pretty much like finding the yellow key in Doom to get to a previously inaccessable area.

As for first person space shooters, I'm not a huge fan of newer ones, but I love SW arcade, Star Raiders, StarMaster etc. Now that you make me think about it, I guess I stopped liking them somewhere after Wing Commander III. Not sure why, though.
Driving games, I use the third-person camera, usually as far away as possible.
Guess I just don't like First person.

kevin_psx

What do you call Atari's Tunnel Runner?

first-person - no gun - should we call it a FPS?

davepesc

Obviously not a FPS, but what does Tunnel Runner have to do with Metroid?
It does not make sense.
So if Chewbacca is from Endor, you must acquit.

This is splitting hairs. It's like arguing that Gran Turismo is not a driving game because you can buy upgrades.
Increasing stats = RPG!

Obviously not a FPS, but what does Tunnel Runner have to do with Metroid?
Sorry. Not meaning to annoy you - but the connection was - not every first-person game is automatically an FPS. Metroid Prime is first-person =/= FPS.

Metroid Prime === Tunnel Runner =/= Halo. Both Metroid and Tunnel Runner are adventures.

I don't like FPS, never even considered Metriod Prime. Pity, because I love the earlier metroids.
I hate FPSes too. But I liked Metroid first-person. It doesn't feel FPS. It feels more like a hide-n-seek adventure - like Banjo or Ratchet&Clank.

Especially with all the hopping up-n-down.

It'd be cool if they made a Metroid in 3D but 3rd-person view - where you see Samus running in front of you - like Smash Bros.
