For the people who spent countless hours trying to find shortcuts post your best one. Explain how it is done. I know some of you are hesitant to show your secrets. LOL

I guess I will be the first, here is my best one. Donut Plains. First you go over the boxes to get an item, you need a mushrrom to do this. As you approach the hairpin turn use your mushroom and press R to jump. If you do it just right it will bump the wall back and forth for about 1 second then go over the wall. Make sure you go over the wall behind the finish line, if you go in front it will still be the same lap.

Well, there are a slew of newer shortcuts based on new boosting techniques, which let you cut across dirt without losing speed. There is also a nice shortcut on rainbow road, which requires a mushroom so that you can speed jump over part of the map. I am mainly a battle mode SMK player though, so my memory of these shortcuts is hazey.

I love battle mode but I also love the match races as well.

This one is more of a cheap trick then a shortcut - On Vanilla Lake 2, as soon as the race starts, turn your kart left so you're right along side the goal line and facing the lake. Then drive right at the lake and jump into it. Try to go out a little bit while under water, then turn and start going left before Lakitu picks you up. If you did it right, he will put you behind the goal line, and when you cross it...a whole lap will be completed.

I haven't played in in a while, but I remember being able to jump over a barrier in one of the race-track maps. The barrier was actually really long to go all the way around, so the short cut was really good. 8-)

That sounds like a really cool shortcut XianXi, it would help too cause I find that track to be one of the hardest in the game.

I read about this one on gamefaqs once, but I couldn't ever get it to work. :/
