Or, Xenosaga: Episode III ~ Also Sprach Zarathustra to give it it's full name...

http://ps2.ign.com/objects/757/757372.html

Apparently the last episode in the saga.

If I am not mistaken, is this not the name of the main theme tune to 2001: A Space Odyssey, by Richard Strauss?

Another coincidence - The series is made by a company called "Monolith" ~ Am I the only one that sees a trend here?

Old news. Title revealed almost a year ago.

"The RPG flood continues in Monolith's grand finale." Except wasn't it supposed to be 6 parts?

It's the title of one of, if not the, most famous book by philosopher Friedrich Nietszche.

ACK!

What's this shxt!

What happened to my grand six-part series?

What a letdown..... I'll still play it (haven't played ep 2 yet either), but I'm really disappointed. So far the story development has been far too slow, and there's no way this will live up to the original promise of the series spanning thousands of years, we still have the same original characters from the first game! wtf...

Yeah, when they first came out with the Xenosaga series, it was supposed to be a 6 part thing. How do they go from a 6 part series and condense it down to 3?

Besides, they don't need to come to out with a third one just yet. I haven't even finished the first one yet. :embarrassed:

What I can't understand is why they didn't release Episode I in the UK, but they released Episode II... That burns even worse than the whole Shining Force on the Saturn affair, or the Suikoden farce...

I understand that the whole concept of Xenosaga is to do with Nietszche, but you can't help but see the coincidences linking it to 2001: A Space Odyssey

~{ PS: Sorry for starting a new thread. I searched for Xenosaga 3, not III, hence why I didn't find any results. Feel free to merge them to save confusion }~

I guess I'm the opposite of most here in that Ep.1 is one of my all-time favorite RPGs and I couldn't even bring myself to finish Ep. 2.

I was looking forward to a 6-part epic across generations (and consoles), but they took everything good about 1 and crapped on it, leaving us with a horrid battle system and too much, "find the spot to trigger the continuation of the cut scene that only paused to make sure you are still awake because there is no other point in randomly making you move from this corner of the room to that corner of the room."

damn i wish i hadent seen this thread -- i havent played this series yet and now i know what its all about - damn , i like figureing out that a story is based on that Nietszche book while going through it - so many stories are based on that

i will still play the games but they will be somewhat predictable now

The 'Xeno' series is a 6-parter. Xenosaga episodes 1 and 2 are the first 2 parts. Episode 3 is the third and Xenogears (for playstation) is the fifth. With xenogears and xenosaga ep1 not being released in the UK and Europe, that basically screws all PAL gamers.

it's probably the last game of the current story-line. who knows maybe Ep 4-6 will be on the PS3/XB360/NR

It's the subtitle of the game...You'd have figured it out sooner or later.

Xenogears "was" the 5th installment, but since moving on to namco the writer has lost all rights to those characters and properties, as they're Square-Enix IP's now. It was supposed to be rewritten to get around this, and you would definitely see similarities, but now it's not even going to happen.

Ugh, what a disappointment.

Then this one won't be for you. Playtime is supposedly 70 hours minimum... 90 hours average, or so I've heard. I got bored around hour 12 and quit.

I cannot see how Xenogears can be part of the series when it is a Squaresoft game. Am I missing something here? Or is the person responsible for Xenogears now working on behalf of Namco?

What book is this series based on, and who is this Nietszche guy anyway?

The first two subtitles don't really mean anything to most people (Me included) as I have no concept of German. However, the third subtitle stuck out a mile, as I remember it being the name of the tune to the film adaptation of Asimov's 2001: A Space Odyssey, which I guess is also German or something too...

Another question: Does Nietszche have anything to do with Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda? Ie, did his book inspire Roddenberry to base certain characters of Andromeda on the book, mainly the Nietzschean's...?
