Just read on Planet Gamecube that Nintendo has finally set a release date for Electroplankton for the DS... January 9. The kicker is... it's only gonna be available to order online. My guess is that they assume it's only going to appeal to a very limited audience, therefore they don't want to bother with a retail campaign. I could understand that viewpoint, but I'm still a bit disappointed.

The upside is that we might have a future rarity here. The only other game Nintendo released exclusively online, Pokemon Box, was originally priced at $20. Copies sell on eBay for over $90 nowdays.

Thoughts? Rants? Another "Nintendo is teh dommed" bitching?

Pokemon Box here in the UK was even harder to get hold of. The only two ways to get it were to either grab it from the VIP Stars catalogue, or by buying the Pokemon Colosseum GameCube bundle, where it came as a bonus second disc with the game...

Alternatively, eBay was the only other place, which is probably where most people will be heading to get hold of Electroplankton I guess...

I am STILL KICKING MYSELF IN THE ASS for not buying Pokemon Box, I kept saying...I'll get it someday...I'll get it someday. Well fuck me in the ass if it didn't go OOP and quadruple in fucking price.

That being said, I'll buy Electroplankton as soon as I can. Any idea on the price of it?

Pokemon Box isn't really a "game" so to speak, it acts like a storge/organizer for your Pokemon. It came with an exclusive memory card too--red & blue colored. I'm not big on Pokemon, but since I've been on the look-out for hard-to-find Gamecube games, I sure as heck jumped on it for the original price of $19.99 when it came out. I had no clue it had increased in value so much though.

I actually imported Electroplankton betting it wouldn't get a US release.

Seeing as how there is virtually no Japanese in it; it's very accesssable. And it's quite a bit of fun.

Guess I should have waited a bit though.

I just imported Electroplankton as it was pretty cheap. I've actually got a 2nd copy as well which I've been meaning to get rid of

Thing is, you'd never know that looking at eBay. European copies of it vastly outnumber the US versions since the shop in NY stopped selling them.

So what website will be selling Electroplankton? Pokemon Box came out of Pokemon Center but I doubt they would be handling this one.

I hope they will deliver international.

About Pokebox it isn't rare in Europe, although the seperatly boxed German version from the VIP-prgra is damn hard to find, copies from the Pokemon Col. Cube bundle are quite common.

According to Nintendo, it will be available from Nintendo.com and "major online retailers", which I suspect will be sites like Gamestop.com and Amazon.com. It will also be available at the NY Nintendo World store.

And Nintendo and Amazon US sites defo don't ship international, which may leave Gamestop etc, unless someone is nice enough to reroute one for people.

//hugs his Japanese copy :)
