i have no idea what this is compatible with. i got it for free and only kept it because of the swank atari logo on the chassis. i don't own an atari computer. can i get this monitor to work for some other purpose? i really need to free up some space and start weeding out some nonessentials. so, dumpster or ....?

It's for ST computers, and after reading this page and seeing it's funky sync rates, I don't know what else it might be compatible with.

They make an awesome RGB display for the Jaguar with either a CatBox or the right cable. Amazing picture.

Mail it to me if you don't want it :)

Yeah, I have to say, I had a couple of these about 10 years ago, and a place called 'Redmond Cable' from Washington State sold me a couple of adapter cables for my Genesis and SNES .. the picture was WOW! Just amazingly good.

Just checked, they're still out there! Check their web site :

It's been a long time since I've dealt with them (early 90s), but they were really nice and professional and fast.

I'd say tell them what systems you have, and get the prices on the cables. IMHO it's worth it in the spirit of ultimate retro goodness. Did I mention how good the picture was? Also, it's not a huge monitor, so games look that much better, all sharp and bright.

aha, that's exactly the kind of info i was looking for, excellent. is there anyway to test to make sure the monitor is actually functional before i blow some $$$ on a fancy cable?

Throw it on Ebay. I sold an complete Atari ST computer system, and the buyer just wanted the Atari brand monitor.

Well, there's not a good way to test unless you've got someone in the area with an Atari ST. You could always buy something like this : http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-520-st-vintage-computer-with-monitor_W0QQitemZ8712357688QQcategoryZ82631QQssPag eNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And have the whole kit :) Then get the RGB cables after you know it works.

You could also just take a stab at it, if it powers up, power LED comes on, it probably works. CRTs have that feel ;)
