View Full Version : Mario DDR!! (Just bought it!)
I went over to gamecrazy to buy a used PS2, since my broke and I wanted to play the Dragonwarrior 7 Demo. I ended up getting Mario DDR. I played it last night at 12:00, after I finished my work and all I can say, so far it's the best DDR I've ever played and the mini games are great. I've been playing throught the story mode and ofcourse the story sucks, but it'sa Mario Game!

I hate to hear all the good reviews for this game. I've barely got enough room in my apartment for my PS2 and Xbox pads... I'm worried I'll have to be clearing out closet space for a pair for the gamecube. :/

Couldnt you just get an adapter for the pad so it can play on the xbox and ps2? I dont know if they have an adapter for the NGC but I assume they do.

Is this better than Disney-(sucks) DDR?

I've watched my employees play this game at work. It certainly is the easiest Dance Dance game I've seen. The nice part is all the nice NES remix songs.
I heard themes from
Wrecking Crew
Donkey Kong
Dr. Mario
Super Mario Bros. 1-2-3
Super Mario World
Mario Kart
The mini games are pretty fun, especially having to run through Super Mario Bros., World 1-1 and even jump the flag pole at the end.
The dance pad that comes with it is extremely responsive and some of my employees agree that it is more effective then the PS2 and Xbox pads.
Also, the game carries a solid price tag of $49.99 with the pad.

That sounds awesome. After reading about it in my gaming magazines I've been wanting to get this. And for $50 you can't beat that!!

I have NEVER cared for DDR; yet, I think I may finally cave and bring this game home. MsNinja will adore it and BabyNinja will definitely enjoy it someday.

Are there any non-Nintendo themed songs on this game? I'm a big DDR fan but I'm still undecided about getting this. It just sounds like that awful Disney Mix except with Nintendo music.
Hi, I've never played any of the home versions of these DDR games, but I'm confused.
If you want to play 2 player, do you need to buy 2 complete sets? Or can you buy 1 set with the pad / game, and buy a separate pad separately?

All you need to play two-player is a system, one game and two pads ( so yeah, 1 set with the pad/game and a seperate pad). Oh and welcome to the forums! :D

If you can do anything over 10 feet with proficency, don't buy mario DDR. Frankly, it's all very, very easy in comparison with usual DDR standards. There are some songs that aren't niuntendo remixes. For comparison, super hard is the rough equivelant of a very easy heavy song.

Over 10 feet? I have never played a DDR that didn't max at 10 feet. This must be some new fangled thingamajig.
I pretty much cap at 8 foot heavy, which I can't imagine a Nintendo game being any harder than that. This is the DDR Max scale I am referring to, not the mystical 10+ footer game you are playing. I need to find someone with a Gamecube so I can give this game a try.
I just read this on GameSpot:
"Once you complete story mode on the normal difficulty, you'll unlock the hard mode. Play through it twice more, and you'll unlock very hard mode and superhard mode, the latter of which is about equivalent to a regular DDR game's standard mode. Those accustomed to playing on heavy difficulty in DDR won't find any challenge here."
Heh, sounds like even I could play this game in my sleep.

Really? . By the way there is no super hard mode until you conquer it.

I LOVE DDR Mario Mix, although I am thoroughly disappointed at how easy it is. Then again, a lot of kids would be buying this game too cuz of Mario, so they had to accomodate them. But it's so cheesy and silly I am thoroughly amused. I LOVE the fact that they incorporated running and jumping the flagpole. It kind of reminds me of the good ol PowerPad days where you had to run in place very fast LOL

it is very cheesy and I love it too but it gets to be a bit much as you have to keep playing through the story mode to unlock more songs and stuff.
I'm not much of DDR fan but for some reason this appealed to me. I guess I figured since it was Mario it would add something like the mini games that I would like. The mini games are fun but they do get old after awhile. They're more fun to play in the context of the story mode than by themselves.
I must agree that the game is easy since I'm not DDR master and I've been able to play through the harder modes.
I like the extra things you have to stomp during play. It seems very Mario. Like the koopas you have to stomp twice just like in other Mario games. It also makes the Boss battles feel more like Boss battles instead of just dance offs.
Pretty fun game and even though its pretty easy I'd recommend it for fans of DDR and Mario games.
No other DDR game had me playing, until I saw this game. Like many others it appealed to me because of Mario. I love the mini game and many goombas and koopa troopas you have to step on while playing.

What other tracks are included? Are there classic DDR tracks included as well, or are they all Mario / Nintendo themed?

Stepmania, songs go up to 15 (I play on a dance mat, not a keyboard) steps. Super hard goes up to MAYBE 7 feet.

Not sure. I haven't played the other DDR games.

Well I've never played a DDR game, but I've been wanting to pick one up for a while. The super easy difficuly sounds like this one would be a good starting point.

I think it's actually a terrible starting point, as it's very unlike other DDR games.

How do you know? I have seen other DDR games and they seem about the same, just that the Mario one is a bit easier.

I'm not too good at DDR either. For some reason my boyfriend is really good. Now what doesn't make sense to me is why people that can't dance are kinda good at it... and the people that can dance suck at it.
That is in no reference to you at all Steve ;)
