KB Toys is blowing out a lot of games for $1, $5, and $10. They are also having a BOGO at 50% off on orange tagged games. These two sales groups seem to be somewhat intermixed. I picked up the following from 2 local KBs tonight:
http://img461.imageshack.us/img461/4853/kb2oh.jpg
Except for Mario Party 5, Paper Mario, and Desert Storm II (which were $10 each), everything here was $5 (even the GH Desert Conflict/ Top Gun double pack!). Some of these are orange tag games, as I was given $2.50 at each store. The Xbox Batman Sin Tzu with Batman Figure was a nice surprise, along with some games that my girls will get for Christmas.

Along with a ton of junk, there were some other nice titles I left behind like GC Warioware, PS2 GT4, Xbox Soul Caliber II, among others. There are lists of games people have picked up over on CheapAssGamer, but it seems that the stores are just putting out whatever is in their back rooms. People are reporting finding Game.com titles, sealed PSX longbox games, and $1 sealed N64 games.

Just wanted to give DP a heads up on a nice deal...good hunting!

My bro was nice enough to call me and tell me he picked up 3 new 'cube games for my collection. He bought me StarFox Assault for $10, Bloodrayne and Black & Bruised for $5 each. With today's purchase of DDR Mario Mix, this puts me upto 95 Gamecube games. Only a few hundred to go. 8*)

Where are there KB's in Milwaukee? I don't know the area that well yet.

I can confirm the randomness of some of the items available. At my local KB they had sealed Genesis, SNES, N64, Game.com games (mostly sports titles), as well as a bunch of disc only games.

I picked up:

Conflict Desert Storm/Top Gun (PS2) - 5.00
Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox) - 2.50
Silent Hill 2 (PS2 disc only) - 5.00
MOH - Rising Sun (PS2) - 5.00

They also had a bunch of GBA games for $5.00

The guy behind the counter told me that come January, KayBee is getting out of the videogame business, so there may be more good deals to come!

There's no shock in that statement. Honestly, I don't know why KB stayed in the VG business so long. The torch has long been passed to stored like EB, FCL/GameStop, and Game Crazy. Plus with the resurgance of indy game shops, it's no suprise KB isn't selling games.

For anyone who hasn't been to a KB in a while or who doesn't even have one in their area anymore - Their video game section is comprised of games they get far too many copies of and don't sell enough of. Since the games are usually behind the counter, it normally makes it a bit hard to see them, but since they're usually sitting on a ton of games, they put them sideways to get them all to fit, making it about impossible to see what they have, and to see what they're priced at (a lot of times, $5 higher than normal retail).

I enjoy shopping at KB for toys, and will continue to do so, but their dropping out of the video game market is long overdue, IMO.

Yeah, I am going tomorrow and would like to know as well, do we have to check the prices at the counter, or are the games already marked?

I went during my lunch at work today; the 1$(None), 5$ and 10$ games were in a seperate section from the other games (They were hanging on a sidecap near the front of the store) and were marked the appropriate prices. I can't vouch for other stores though. Picked up i-ninja [GC] and Poker [GBA] for 8.10$ total.

@Goodwillhunter: Thanks for the heads up, I really appreciate it. Coming from a dentists appointment terribly numbed, I hit the KB Toys in Brookfield and found great deals (no Star Fox Assault or GC Warioware, but I'm very satisfied!) Thanks again, I'm really gald that you post these great sales!

@Drexel923: you lucky, lucky, lucky son of a gun! Congrats, guy, that is some great haul!! Gran Turismo 4 for ten bucks, and Warioware, even SNES games, who do you think you are, the game shopping god?? :) It is great to see someone getting all these games so cheap.

Here is what I got:

PS2 for $2.50:
Midnight Club II
Starsky and Hutch
Star Wars Star Fighter
Seek and Destroy
IHRA Drag Racing 2
Supercar Street Challenge
Conflict Desert Storm
Top Gun Combat Zones
Ford Racing 2
Gran Turismo 3

PS2 for $5:
Driver
Terminator 3
Soul Calibur II

XBox for $5:
Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Vortex
Street Hoops

GBA:
Zelda Minish Cap $10

N64:
Pokemon Snap (2) $1

18 games for $62, that is some good game shopping.

Yesterday I found 9 new PS1 games for $2 each at a Blockbuster, at the beginning of the week I got some great used games for a very reasonable price (among them Klonoa 2), and today the great KBToys sale made a great week. Slowly I have to reorganize my game room again, I guess.

I did all right today. I wasn't expecting much, and oddly it seems Milwaukee is quite the hotbed of game collecting right now. When Goodwill Hunter alerts you and you still see four people you know while out hunting, you know the chances are slim...

By the way, if I saw you today and you're reading this, please tell me who you are. I'm awfully bad about putting names on here with real people :(

I was able to snag:

3 copies of N64 No Mercy for a dollar
2 packs of e-Reader cards (I bought myself an e-Reader today for $9.00 too, so I was happy) for a $1.00
R-Type III (GBA) $5
Soul Calibur II (Xbox) $5
Midway Arcade Treasures (GC) $5
Crash: Wrath of the Cortex (Xbox) $5
Mario Vs. Donkey Kong (GBA) $10

Everything was at the second store. The first one had about 10 sports titles, Tony Hawk for the PSP and some other crap titles. I got Wrath of the Cortex there, and then found another 10 copies at the second KB I went too.

I'm mostly excited about Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, which I was able to spy behind the counter. Unfortunately, it came without the box and I stupidly dropped the manual and promptly stepped on it while walking to my car, so it really wasn't that great of a deal... but I've been meaning to play it anyway.

If anyone got Polarium, Mario Party 5, or Star Fox Assault and wants to trade or sell me one for a good deal, I'd be really excited :)

Dan, yep, in Milwaukee you can always find some stores which have great games in store when they are on sale. Circuit Cities, Best Buys, Targets, Kmarts...I usually do pretty well when it comes to these sales.

There is no way to beat Rich (GoodwillHunter) to a great sale, he's always first and gets the best stuff. :)...and it is well deserved. I admire his persistency to hit thrifts, garage sales, and he is so well informed about sales; I'm way too lazy for that; he's the typical early bird who gets the fattest worms, and rightfully so.

Two years ago or one year ago (when the great CC sale was), I'm pretty sure I saw him in the evening at a store. (I looked his pic up) I was second close behind, but he got the Disgaeas...:) At one point I have to meet the guy just to ask him if he has a Philosoma or In the Hunt for sale or trade. :) He must have one of the largest collections around.

Dan and Rich, maybe we should meet anyway at some point, would be nice. Dan, you could look up my pic in my profile, and if you run into me say hello. :) (btw, my name is Klaus, and I'm easy to spot...I have a strong German accent. :)

Dan, btw, you talked about one store having not a good selection for the games on sale...is that the store in Southridge? I went to the store in Brookfield, and had a bad conscience that I didn't have the energy to go to Southridge. It would calm me down if you'd tell me they have nothing really to offer. :) ( I got a rootcanal today, my second complicated one in two months, and the dentist made me jump five times, numbed me five times, so I wasn't in the mood to drive to Southridge after I was in the first store. :)

So is there any way to identify the games on sale? Are they all marked with their sale prices or should they be set aside in their own location? Anybody got a list of everything on sale and what their prices should be?

I gotta head out tomorrow anyway, so I may as well make a day of it. :) I've stopped in there like... once in the last several years, but last time I left with Breath of Fire II for GBA, so hopefully I can at least end up with one good title for cheap like then.

Cool beans. Will do. Most people have run into me at one point or another from the Midwest Gaming Classic (I've had some strange encounters thanks to this. I worked at Six Flags for three years, and every once in a while out of the blue someone would start talking video games with me, and would ultimately ask a question about the next MGC. Always REALLY confused me though when it happened...), but here's sort of what I look like...

Um, wow. I somehow avoided the camera at the last MGC. Uh... this is what my wife looks like? The one in blue... (http://www.midwestgamingclassic.com/images/mgc2004/mgc109.jpg) I'll probably be the funny lookin' guy taggin' along with her.

This was me in 2003 (http://www.midwestgamingclassic.com/images/mgc2003/mwc19.jpg). I'm the one on the right. I have a little less hair now (through cutting, not loss... yet.) and I'm a little heavier, although not too much.

But yes, we should get together at some point. What college do you work at, by the way? If you or anyone from the area is going to Pinball Expo too, (or wants to carpool ;) ) I'll be there also :)

Sorry, I thought the Brookfield store was horrible, and when I ran into other collectors at Southridge, I told them to avoid it. I don't know when you got there, but I showed up around 6:00ish and it had about 20 games total, mostly sports games, mostly missing their DVD inserts, and almost all for $10.00. The only thing there that I found to be a 'find' at all was THUG Remix for PSP, which I skipped since I have no PSP. I did get Crash: Wrath of the Cortex. Of course, there was about 10 copies at Southridge of that.

Southridge was REALLY well stocked on PS2 games. Since I don't own a PS2, I didn't pay too much attention to that. They also had Spider-Man 2 for the DS, a few GameCube games (*almost* bought Bionicle, I did buy Midway Arcade Treasures) and a few GBA games (I did get R-Type 3 and Mario Vs. DK as mentioned, and skipped but almost bought some Oddworld GBA game) and about 35 Xbox games, which were mostly Star Wars / Tetris Worlds, Soul Calibur and Crash:WotV. It wasn't that impressive, but I was happy to get a couple things...

Oh, and all of the games were 'full price'. The orange stickers had been covered up on them with new stickers. I can clearly see orange underneath every item I bought, but they were rang up with the "normal" stickers.

There is a lot of competition here in Brewtown, so it pays to keep on your toes. I make sure to notify my fellow local collectors of a good deal (right after I pick up a few titles for myself that is ;) ). And funny you should mention Philosoma …just picked up a nice complete spare last week…by all means, send me a tradelist!

I found my best stuff at Brookfield, but most of them were the last ones…Southridge had a much bigger selection, but no killer finds like the GC Mario games.

Wow..they are sooo trying to copy Toys R Us with their 50% off sale. Those lame-os! LMAO

When the one in Medford closed, I should've gotten some games on their liquidation sales but I was too proud to buy anything at shitty little KB since I work at far superior (let me have my delusions) Toys R Us. Grr.

I bet by the time I have the time to make it up to the Saugus one, the sale'll be over or there'll be crap left. Does anyone know if this is a week-long thing or longer? Maybe I'll run up really quick tomorrow before work (although I have to be in at 2 and I sleep late so that's gonna be a squeeze)

Dammit, I keep saying I'm gonna hold off on buying more games 'til after the holidays and something always gets me to break that promise! I have to cash in on my store's buy 2 get the 3rd free sale too. Damn my addiction and my inability to pass up a sale. :(

Hey Dan, I was one of the people you saw at Southridge. Thanks for telling me about Brookfield. You saved us some time and money. It was great talking with you. As for what I picked up (this is from memory so I might have forgotten something) here it is:

I also picked up Scooby-Doo: Mystery Mayhem (or something like that) for the PS2 on my initial run.

I just hit up the one in Colonie Center in Albany, NY. Thanks for the heads up DP guys!

Gamecube:
Dead to Rights - everything but box insert - $5
Bionicle - sealed - $5

PS2:

There were a TON of used CIB GBA games but most were priced from $12.99 to $14.99. There are still some ps2 and xbox games left for $5. Depending on what their selling price is on the 'bay, or if my friends want them, I may go back.

Hit two different stores today, but nothing at either one jumped out and said "Buy me!". Most everything that was somewhat appealing was opened and had display stickers all over it. Weird...I wonder what that was all about. Oh well, found some nice retro stuff while I was out though! Rest of my cash shall go to the swap tomorrow.

*sigh* These sales never go well for me. I hit my local KB in Brooklyn, and all they had was crap. Mostly lame PS1 games. Lots of licensed garbage. The only things remotely appealing were Xevious and Ice Climbers for GBA (which didn't interest me enough to buy) and I-Ninja (which I already own).

Oh by the way guys, when I walked into the KB the first thing that caught my eye was Sonic. I looked over and there was a tall stack of Sonic the Hedgehog electronic pinball machines. You know, those little pinball machines that you can play on your lap or on a desk, about a foot or two long (give or take). There was also a stack of similar Donkey Kong ones. Did anyone else have these at their KB? Are these new out there or were they unearthed from the depths of the KB storage room? They were $20 by the way.

I saw the Sonic ones a couple weeks ago. I checked out the copyright date on the box and it was either this year or last.

I got all excited until I found out they were new. Though they still looked like a nice pickup for a Sonic fan ;)

Just what I need, even more local competition LOL . Yes It was me. Hey I worked for those games. They had put them in a stupid wire bid on the floor and I had to dig through it for about a half hour to get them. I could barely reach the games on the bottom, it gave me a sore back.

How did you find out?? Did you ask the cashier or something?? She was very helpful.

I saw the thread last night, went to the local KB this morning. They had been practically wiped out except for a bunch of sports games. But at the very bottom of the pile, likely hidden by some kid, was a Mario Kart Double Dash for $10. Yay! I'd been waiting forever for this one to drop, but this was even better!

Thanks for the heads-up!

But yes, we should get together at some point. What college do you work at, by the way? If you or anyone from the area is going to Pinball Expo too, (or wants to carpool ;) ) I'll be there also :)

I looked at your pics, and I'll recognize you in case of a future run-in. :)

I taught at MTI and Marquette, but now I'm at the University of Kansas but reside in Milwaukee. I'm not teaching for the last two years (thank goodness) because I'm involved in a longer running research project about Western European Party systems (thank goodness well-funded).

Unfortunately, I'm not intersetd in Pinball machines although I enjoyed looking at them at the Midwest Gaming Classic last year. Where is the Pinball Expo, btw?

I had the best finds in Brookfield, but I was there pretty early.

Just in case I went to Southridge yesterday (Saturday) later in the afternoon, but it was pretty much cleaned out. Still lots of games there, but nothing I wanted or already had. I picked up a Black and Bruised for the GC for $5, and Extreme Go-Kart Racing for the PS1 for $2.50.

I just love these sales...for $2 I pick up every game thrown at me. :) Even a Catwoman which I got at Best Buy for $1.

I certainly will send you a tradelist although I don't have much to offer. I don't have a lot of spares but some stuff you might be interested in.

:/

Most of the games in the bargain bin were not marked down, but rather open copies/returned copies of games like Kingdom Hearts, DK King of Swing and Ultimate Spider-Man. The rest were overprice pieces of crap. Most of them marked $19.99 and up. Too few orange sticker games and barely any $1, $5 or $10 games. I did pick up Madden NFL 2005 for the DS for $10, new. I guess that's kind of a good deal, even though its an outdated sports game. I will have to try a few other stores as well.

Does this sale apply to all KayBee stores, including KB Toy Works and KB Outlets?
