when you say nintendo do you mean nes, gameboy, snes, virtual boy, what?
as far as nes, the nwc 1990 carts are the only ones i can really think of off hand. there were boxes for all the pack-in games as far as i can think of, but i might be forgetting a couple. what were all the various nes pack-in games anyway, there must be a list somewhere.

True, unless you can find the crate these were shipped to America from Japan in, heh heh. Yeah, I know, not going to happen.
Alternately, I've heard the NWC techs carried around a red case with extra carts in it in case they had to change them for the competition. I believe they were kept in those plastic slip bags all licensed NES games came in within their boxes. I've never seen one of the cases, but I'm working on trying to at least get pics of one...might never happen, but we'll see.
No manuals on these either, but the 90 NWC finalists did receive a videotape on game strategies for the cart. Strangely, only some that I've interviewed got this...others were like, "What! Why didn't I get one?!" So yeah, no manual, but many of the folks saved all their documentation (legal papers, itineraries, etc.) from the event. I guess that's about as close as you can get.
Some folks did receive a piece of paper with their cart like this one Adam Misosky got:
http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewarpzone/nwc_docs/nwc7.jpg
Oh, and here's a link to some examples of that documentation I was talking about (also from Adam):
http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewarpzone/misosky.html
Some said theirs came in a regular yellow padded envelope in the mail with no paper, others have said they were called into a meeting, and some finalists said it was handed to them right around the end of the competition. I found this rather strange...there's at least 3 different stories on how each got his/her cart.
Other than that, there's always the NWC pamphlet, or Insider's Guide every competition goer saw lying all over the place. Some later shows changed a couple pages of it, including the cover to say Powerfest instead of Nintendo World Championships 1990.
That was probably way too much info, lol...

This was because it came with the system, I assume. So, did some regions have it come boxed and others not?

I saw the title and thought of the First Hunt pack-in for the DS. The Prime 2 demo disc also has no box.
But neither of those are NES games, so boo hoo.

I don't think Miracle Piano came with a box. It was just packaged cart-only with the keyboard.

Me too. I have the 4 controller pack and it don't have a box for the game.
BTW, there isn't a NTSC version of this cart.
Also I can confirm that Miracle Piano doesn't have a box.

Wel, that means that big-ass box IS the box. I don't consider Miracle Piano complete without it and the keyboard
(well, and cable, and instructions).
And as for those test carts, how were they ordered and delivered to technicians? They came in something. I'm guessing a box.

How about Racermate Challenge II? And going into more unlicensed territory, how about Dizzy the Adventurer for the Aladdin? ;)

They all have boxes, but some of them are generic with the game's label stickied on the front.

i'd say no box for racermate II, just came with the set up when you ordered it from computrainer. Dizzy adventurer was the pack in with the aladdin... so no seperate box for that either

Well, do you believe it now? It seems that it was sold separately from the pack, at least in Spain. The pack-in didnīt have the box.

You still donīt believe it? How can you say itīs pirate? :eek 2: @_@ It seems that the distributor, Spaco, did it with Nintendoīs permission to sold it separately.
I donīt think youīll find the box on Ebay.es, there arenīt a lot of Nes games selling at any point of the year.
PS: Ok, Iīve just found the back side of the box.

Thanks for the scans. I didnt say it WAS a pirate, I said it looked like it. But if some other distrubited it as you said it makes more sense. I "reacted" on the poor cover design, thats why.

lol, Where's the "opening up a huge ugly can of worms" smiley? Heh heh.
Red, so every Sachen title did have a box? Even those super-rares (didn't you say they made literally custom runs in single units once or twice?)?

Well, Iīm with you in that it doesnīt look a legit release. LOL
All of this started when talking about pack-in games while I was doing the Spanish rarity list. I didnīt know it even existed, and some people pointed out that the game was sold separately with a box, and one of them showed me the scans.

Technically First Hunt had a box, but it wasn't the traditional plastic clamshell that DS games come in, it was a little cardboard folder with a slot for the card and a slot for the manual. At least that's how it came in America. In my opinion it counts, because it's storage for the game that came with the game. To me, that counts as "boxed"
Also, I got the Prime 2 demo with Prime 1 (it was a used copy of the one that came in the GC Metroid bundle last year) so it was boxed, but it doesn't have its own box. So while Prime 2 didn't "come with a box" it tagged along in Prime's box.
