S-T-R-A-N-G-E. I wonder how it will sell? It looks absolutely tacky as hell.

VERY COOL. Possible easy way to convert to mame if you want also.

I will admit that I would appreciate it if people didn't hollow out perfectly good arcade machines for MAME...

At the same time though, it sounds like it will just be a normal TV in there. The article even says that you can hook a DVD player up to it. I guess I just don't get it.

And how would you get one of these home?

Yeah, those cabs look absolutely tiny (and cheap) too. Did you go to the manufactures page? There is a pic of two guys playing it and they are hunched over trying to play the thing. I'm 6'7", so I imagine I'd look like a complete freak trying to play one of these.

That table top model looks allot better though. I'd get one of those before I'd get an upright cab.

That looks 100% awesome!

It seems like Target is always having %-off sales, too. So who knows.

Hell, if the emulation is good, it's worth full price.

For the lazy:

Target Stores will offer BigGames Home Video Arcade machines that will retail for less than $500 nationwide in November of 2005. Each unit plays 12 of the original arcade versions of the most popular Midway® games including: Defender®, Defender® II, Robotron®, Joust®, Bubbles®, Splat™, Sinistar®, Rampage®, Rootbeer Tapper™, Wizard of Wor™, Timber™, and Satan's Hollow™. The unit stands 62” tall and has an included, built-in, full color monitor. It comes with additional A/V inputs that allow (almost) any existing home video game system, DVD player, VCR or any other A/V product to be plugged in and viewed on the built-in monitor.

That would definitely be Mame convertable!! And they're building a Target right across the street from my apartment complex!!!

I'm pretty sure you could scrape together your own MAME machine for cheaper, but still this offers a "reasonable" alternative to people who can't.

Looks like you'd have to replace the joystick set up though.

Norkusa is right, that seems awesome but the machine looks absolutely TINY compared to other stand-ups. Still, for a sad-sack like myself with no mechanical no-how at all, seems like a decent deal. Oh Target, you wacky bitch!

I dunno, something doesn't look right about that picture...

They say the machine is 6' 2", that means those guys playing it are pretty big guys.

I'm 5' 10", I think it'd be just fine, size-wise.

It admittedly does look tacky as hell, but a repaint could fix that. I'd probably custom repaint any cab I ever buy anyway.

Look again. It says it's 62" tall, not 6'2" tall.

Strange that they aren't carrying the smaller table-top cabinets at Target. Why the hell would Dick's Sporting Goods sell them?

Arcade + stool + beer = fun times for all

Seriously, it looks perfect for a stool, the way I used to play in the old days!

i dont think those games used vertical monitors, so it will be interesting to see what they use

Heh, that's about the only thing that could get me interested. LOL

Did anybody else notice that Satan's Hollow is going to be on this thing? I would expect a bit of conservative backlash from that and while Target is no Wal-Mart in that regard, it does kind of stray outside their safety zone. I would bet they have one set up for display and as soon as little Timmy gets caught playing something called Satan's Hollow at Target, there will be hell to pay, pardon the pun.

I do realize that the game itself is neither pro-satanic nor particularly offensive, but just a product with Satan on it is likely to stir some folks up.
