View Full Version : Why can't I find official Sega Dreamcast VMUs w/o the screen

I heard that Sega made VMUs for the Dreamcast without the screen, and they were capable of holding 4X the memory. Why the hell can't I find any official ones on eBay? All I can find are third parties. Am I not searching for the right thing?

well they technically aren't VMU's as they had no screen, you could try serching for dreamcast memory cards, or 4x dreamcast. Other than that the 4x cards were actually pretty rare, there weren't many around even when the system was alive, I got lucky and found 3 or 4 right before the system died.

last year I bout about 10 official x4 off eBay and sold 9 to local users... haven't looked up since but didn't now it's now rare?
I think I paid around $19 each for brand new one...
VMU = Visual Memory Unit, hence why you probably can't find one without a screen! :D

I've gotten all mine from the dollar VMU sections at chain game stores, they are quite awesome.
