My girlfriend went to Target last night and purchased the X-Box version of X-Men Legends II. She opened it up and out popped a piece of paper giving her a code to enter in game for a "Target exclusive" X-Men Legends II cinematic. I searched the forums but didn't see any threads about this. Is this normal? Are there other games doing this sort of stuff? Is this only limited to Target for X-Men Legends II? Kind of weird imo.

That is kinda weird. Probably something Target is trying, get as many *exclusive* content as possible. I was browsing DVD sets for TV series, noticed a couple with "Target-Only" extras.

Target's been doing it for quite a while. One of the first I can recall is GCN Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, which included a code to unlock a championship tour and most recently Tony Hawk: American Wasteland (PS2, GCN, XBox), which had a code to unlock a character (Mat Hoffman, I believe).

A code you would most likely be able to find on the internet a day after release anyway.

Target is a sweet place. Many times I find great deals there for new stuff. Much better than WalMart

Wal-Mart is the great satan!

Heh, I do like Target .. their selection is often sort of limited, but their prices and atmosphere are very nice.

Their Customer service is good too. Walmart's service is nonexistant. -_-

When I bought Onimusha 2 there was a Target Exclusive pack of character cards in there. (Might have been Onimusha 3, now I forget...)

Oh well, kinda neat anyway. If anyone cares enough to know which game, PM me, I'll go look, hehe.)

All the major places do it now it seems. WalMart has been for a while (the 'codes' have been for Nascar 05 and 06 exclusive tracks among others) as has Target and K-Mart. EB and Gamestop have been known to do this on occasion, but they tend to give preorder goodies more than they do 'exclusive content'.

The first exclusive release (nextgen anyway) Target did was a card inside the original Onimusha that called a tip line for free or something like that - was a LONG time ago.

Does anyone know if there is any Target exclusive stuff for any DS games? If so, would it say it on the packaging or is it pretty much a guessing game (if you bought it second hand)?

I've not seen any exclusive games, but there was an exclusive DS Nintendogs leash released as a w/purchase gimmie item and targets logo is on the 'leash' itself.
