I was browsing this thread:
http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=73155

And noticed that it is now locked. Now, I accept that there are rules you guys follow as part of moderating these forums, and I also understand that you take a lot of abuse because of it. And I'm not complaining so much as suggesting that maybe the thread locking is becoming a bit obsessive.

I'm not one to just complain without stating a valid reason, so here's why, in this specific case, I don't understand the lock:

It makes sense that maybe this thread is being discussed in the Arcade forum, but on the other hand, I never read the Arcade forum. And I would think that there are other similar type of people who, even though they don't read that particular forum, may still find the news of a $500 arcade cabinet being sold at Target to be interesting. Why not let the separate threads run?

Again, this isn't a complaint, so much as a suggestion.

What say you?

It's Joe's policy that if the same topic is posted twice, the older one stays open and the newer one gets locked. There are exceptions to every rule, but this wasn't one of them. The idea is that when someone comes into the forum and wants to talk about arcade games being sold at Target, s/he doesn't have to do so in multiple threads.

I'm locking this because this policy has been explained several times in the past, plus the irony of it makes me laugh.

By the way, if you see a thread that you think may have been locked unjustly, the best course of action is to PM the admin or moderator who locked it and explain your position. Many people have talked me into unlocking threads before. I've never unlocked one because someone made a new post about it in a public forum.
