I'm talking penny arcade era up to the mid sixties...reason being is that I may be coming into my first coin-op. A really old machine called Bonanza by Williams, I think, circa 1955-1965. It's a western themed machine with a gun that is used to shoot at moving metal targets inside the cabinet. Everything has been completely restored, except for the cabinet, which is plywood with stenciling. I tried doing a search here for anyone posting links to a site much like KLOV, but for older carnival-type games/info. I haven't heard back from the guy as of yet, but I'm afraid of what the price will be.

Also, he says he has an old, non-working Deluxe Space Invaders in a warehouse he'd sell to me dirt cheap...he thinks it only needs a new monitor (think I may be asking tholly for help on that one)...and says he could probably get me a Donkey Kong Jr. for $50 -$100 bucks because "they break easily." Anybody have experience with one of these machines?

I'm FAR from a coin-op expert, but any arcade game you pay less than $200 for is a good deal. 8*) I'd hop on the DK Jr machine. From what I gather, Nintendo monitors have a tendancy to crap out and need cap kits usually upon purchase. Ask him if the machines will power up and "play blind", meaning will coin-up and you can hear it functioning but there's nothing on the mointor. If they power up and work fine, even better. 8*)

Don't know much about the mechanical gun game, but it definately sounds like a blast to play. I'd pick it up, but I'm a big fan of gun/light gun games, so that's just me. 8*)

From what I remember, he said the SI machine had green horizontal lines through it and the sound was a little off. He also said the cabinet might need a little work around the bottom. I'll see what he wants for the Bonanza and the SI and maybe then go for the DK Jr...sounds like a steal.

In my experience, SI machines are problematic, but Nintendo cabs are fairly easy to keep going. Especially something as popular as DK Jr., which has tons of repair and restoration info on it all over the web.
