No contest... it's Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt. We're up to our necks in 2600 versions of Pac-Man as well, and I suspect that we'd have just as many E.T.s floating around had they not been buried in New Mexico.

Well, it's got to be a race between Combat or SMB/Duck Hunt. Anyone got stats as to how many 2600's and NES were released?

Forget Combat, ET gets the stinker. Atari didn't have to bury millions of Combat. :D

Other dishonorable common games: Dragon Warrior (free with Nintendo Power subscription at one time), SMB/DH (pack in for many years) and SMB3 (overly popular)

From my own personal experience in the matter:

I barely even "thrift" at all. But when I do.. one thing is pretty much a constant. You WILL find one.. (if not two or more) Super Mario Bros/ Duck Hunt.

Combat's are hit and miss. Pacman sometimes, ET's occasionally. But smb/dh is KING

Heh, you're ALL wrong! The most common game is Super Tennis for the SNES. The flea market here has ten of them factory sealed!

How about Tetris on the Game Boy?

Does anyone know how many of the original Game Boys were sold? I know the Game Boys in their various transformations have sold well into the hundreds of millions, but how many of those were the originals with the pack-in Tetris game?

30 million GB-Tetris games were produced according to the Tetris history site.

Top 10 ever?

1. Super Mario & Duck Hunt. Seriously, I doubt any game comes remotely close.
2. Combat for the 2600. I've never seen a place that has Atari stuff and not have this game.
3. Space Invaders for the 2600. This has to be neck and neck with Combat.
4. Pac-Man for the 2600: See #2 and #3
5. Super Mario 3: If someone has an NES collection for sale, or there is an NES dealer around you, I would be shocked if they didn't have at least one of these.
6. Super Mario World: Every time the Goodwilll by my house gets SNES games in, at least three of these show up.
7. Sonic the Hedgehog: The game that put Sega on the map.
8. Sonic 2: Almost as common as Sonic 1.
9. Dragon Warrior: NES. I think there is something like ten million copies out there in the US.
10. Super Mario All-Stars: I think this is slightly more common that Zelda for the SNES. But it's pretty close.

According to the Guinness Book of Records (1999), SMB is the best selling console title ever, therefore it is the most common one. On Computer, they list 'Myst', so that must be common too.

That's easy, the Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt cartridge for the NES.

I think Pac-Man would actually be more common than Combat, in retrospect. Think about it: they made two Pac-Man cartridges for every one Atari VCS that was made. I wonder how many Combats exactly were made.

And, also, SMB/DH is another obvious answer. The local pawn shop has about 30 copies, just lined up in its own shelf. Just can't seem to get rid of them.

Don't remember all of the classic console pack-in games, but I would think these carts would be the most common. They came with the systems, so everyone would have one.

2600 = Combat / Pac-man (I think it was the pack in later on in the 2600's life)
Intellivision - wasn't it Las Vegas Blackjack?
Odyssey2 =Speedway/Spinout/Crypo-logic
ColecoVision = Donkey Kong

and so on.....

the 2600 being the most popular classic system, I would put the combat (or Pac-man, if I'm correct on that) as the most common 'classic' game.

As for more modern consoles, where they stopped putting in a pack-in game, that would have to go by sales figures, of which I'm not an expert. And, since the modern systems have 'way' outsold the old 2600 (in number of units - look at the Gameboy for example), there is a decent chance that a modern game in the most popular. I just don't know what it is!? x_x

By far, it has to be SMB/DH. Just be sure to go down that hidden pipe and warp many, many levels ahead. And why could you not shoot that damn dog for laughing at you?

I have to vote for SMB/DH being the most common, I mean... it was packaged with just about every NES console, which ended up being EXTREMELY popular. Other systems had pack-ins, but I don't think they did half as well as the NES did.

The most common common is also the most common response. :)

It's laughable how many SMB/DH's there are out there! LOL Imagine if, 20 years ago, you knew that people would use these things for footstools.

... and yet this (http://www.gamestats.com/objects/627/627893/) ? :? We live in a strange, consumer world.

curious...the box of the game is rare.... the game cart & manual is common (sell with the console)

I'm pretty sure that "The Sims" passed Myst as the best selling computer game of all time.

Sonic 2 seems to be more common for the Genesis than 1 to me. If you go in a store and throw a rock it'll hit a Sonic 2 cart. At least that's my opinion.

For dreamcast I have to say crazy taxi. There are at least a 5-1 ration to every other dreamcast game. Often times much much more.

Up here in Canada, it's not the Maddens and the NBA games that flood the Genesis market.... it's those damn EA NHL games. They are EVERYWHERE!!! A dime a dozen.

Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt is definitley one of the more common ones...but I probably see copies of Fester's Quest for the NES the most. It seems like every used video game store I walk into...I see at least 2 - 5 copies of that game.
