There are several harder to find US Zelda collectables.
Zelda prototype cartridge
Zelda yellow test cart
Zelda Wind Walker promotional scroll (not the wall scroll)
Zelda Majora's Mask contest prize from Nintendo power

I suspect shill bidding to raise the price then he tried to do a second chance offer after the auction was over.

Ye.. I thought about that too.

I think they mean buy, from a shop, at the time, using money. As opposed to now. You can buy anything now if you find someone selling it.
Could you have walked into a shop and bought (at the time) or pre-ordered any of the four items you listed? ;)

One time, we were all out drinking celebrating a friend's birthday party. It was a long night, and there were a lot of drinks. Turns out it was the owner of the bar's birthday so drinks were 2-for-1 to celebrate.
Needless to say, we were quite tanked. So on the way home (we were walking) I fell into a set of bushes. I was quite annoyed, so I ripped the bush out of the ground and tossed it in the street. Imagine my surprise when I looked into the hole and found a piece of heart!
I know there have to be another 3 at least out there in the world, and I have looked for one ever since. I heard rumours of one on ebay, but never found any other mention.
So, I offer my piece of heart as the rarest Zelda item ever. There's only 4 known of in the world!

I had a girlfriend once. I was only young, and she was like a princess.
Anyway's, one day at the beach, we were making sandcastles. There was a Punch & Judy show; Some donkey's; And a magician... ~ I got bored of building my castle, and after a few minutes of hacking at some shrubbery with a stick I found, I decided to go visit her castle...
But as I got there I saw her being picked up by the magician and whisked away on one of the donkey's... Oh noes! I gave chase, but the magician on the donkey was too fast. My girlfriend threw something from the back of the animal and it landed in the sand in front of me... I picked it up "What have I here?" ~ Ooh, a shield made out of wood bearing some sort of golden triangular shape on the front.
So, I offer you my shield shaped piece of driftwood as being the rarest Zelda item ever
**Disclaimer: Events mentioned above may or may not have actually happened in real life, and may have just been made up by me on the spot. Highly unlikely, but possible.

I once splatted a spider on my bathroom wall and it spat out a ruby! @_@
The very same day, I was cutting the grass (With a sword of all things ~ We keep it for doing such mediocre tasks) and I found a whole load of items just lying there on the ground ~ A load of priceless gems; Some magic powder; And a gigantic mushroom which I intend to take to the old lady down the road so she can mix it into something more useful...
I also have a hat I obtained which sometimes talks to me... Sometimes I put it on, and I feel so small...

<-- Read what's under my username... That, in all likelyhood (with the possible exception of aforementioned wall scroll), is the rarest Zelda item ever. Yes, it's in my possession, and yes, it came out of that massive Zelda collection I bought a few months back.

I can agree with you as far as "one of the rarest" is concerned. BTW...I find myself digging that brand-new 64DD...but no $750 to spend :/ ...

Princess Isabela:
Buyatari is right, 5,000 items is actually a LOT compared to the other items he listed. Sure, yours is pretty difficult to find, but to say it will "never come up again?" That's impossible. There are a few hundred Zelda NES Test Carts (why anyone wants that is beyond me), and the scroll and so far only ONE of the NES Prototype Legend of Zeldas has come up....ONE is much better than 5,000 in terms of rarity I would say :P

instead of offering only a BIN for the 64DD stuff you should allow people the option to bid it up from zero.

Why don't you use the "submit best offer" option, it's pretty useful :D

What happends if the bid ends on a far lower price that the seller is happy with?
Mayhem
11-12-2005, 05:27 PM
Well that's why you use a reserve...
jajaja
11-12-2005, 05:33 PM
Well.. i dont see why use expencive reserve option instead of just setting a BIN button, which would most likely be the same as the reserve price. But sure, if you want to see aproximate how much people wants to give, reserve is useful.
Princess-Isabela
11-12-2005, 06:32 PM
right, reserve is expensive if item won't sell.
anyway - I listed my perfect N64DD unit with 2 disks for a veeery reasonable $325 - check it out!!

No, the all time rarest zelda item is the pure gold zelda edition gba sp, there was only 7 ever made. it was a contest in europe, there was a golden ticket given out with those zelda edition sp's and who was ever lucky enough to get one , got a pure gold zelda sp.
