Here's a fun question since the DP Guide seems to be a hot topic lately.

I always have in with me in my bag you must be prepared or you will miss a good find.I also have all the other rarity guide printed as well with me at all times. :D

I use it to see if those 9.99 psx games at gamestop are worth it.

If we bring it, it stays in the car, and we'll take a printed out list of games needed to carry in hand. That way, one of us can run back to the store if we need to check rarity (although I think Willie's got most of them memorized already for systems he collects) without looking too obvious.

LOL Who voted "I like to be surprised!". Surely a non-collector. There's nothing I hate more than surprises when it's MY CASH on the line.

I usually bring my DP Guide with me sometimes on mall trips when checking out NES titles. PSX and whatever else I find titles that intrested me and I check the suppliments and usually buy it the next day or whatnot.

I was vote #2 for being surprised. Can't speak for the other but I'd say I'm a collector :D

At this point I'm not concerned with getting anything and everything for any system. I just decide if I want a game and buy it if the price seems reasonable for the system. I definitely get a kick out of going home afterward, updating my database, and checking my DP guide to see what I scored (more often than not a 1 or a 2, but last night treated me to a 5 :) )

:D I guess that I'm the third person to vote for "I like to be surprised". :D
Maybe it's just because I'm not a typical collector. I never buy anything very expensive. The guide is sort of like research material for me. Mind, I can use it as a collecting resource, but usually, in that capacity, I use it to figure out what is a clone of what. More often though, I read it as a fascinating guide to the history of video games.

(And I have a copy of Leonard Herman's Phoenix as well for that reason.)

I don't have a guide since I only collect for NES, but I don't like to stand out so I do not bring a list into the stores. It would nice if I could put a list on my PDA *cough*PocketGuide. I just cross my fingers and hope I do not have the game. But I hate when I get doubles.

I leave it in the car sometimes, but never take it into stores. Why wise up the sellers? The one really good place in this town is a "sort of " antique store called "Mom's Attic". She has a lot of games among the various items, and she gets her prices directly from a Funco catalog. This means that Ms. Pac Man for NES commands $40, but Solitaire goes for $5. It also means that anything pre-Funco gets $3 plastered on it. Combat--$3. H.E.R.O.--$3 Frogger II--$3.

I don't feel like informing her of the guide's existence. I would like to continue relieving her of top loader NES' for $20 (3 so far) each, NES Arkanoid controllers for $2, etc. etc.

Where's the option for "NO, because I usually have a good idea of what's a good deal or not."

Reading the guide cover to cover will do that to ya.
