For me, it's the SNES. There were a few sports titles on the system that I really enjoyed, (including the NBA Jam games, NBA Live '96, and Super Baseball 2020). It's also the only console I own a Madden game on ('97). I own hardly any sports games for my other consoles.

What about you, and why?

Same here but I was a Genesis man so I had some of those games. I mostly had football games like Madden, Joe Montana, Tecmo Super Bowl and other ones like Mutant League Football.

Sports games really took off during the 16-bit era. Coming in second would probably be my PS2. That would be a distant second since I don't buy sports games as often as I used too. Back in the day with the Genesis I actually really looked forward to each years new sports game. I would probably have more too but I did a lot of renting back then.

My favorite sports game has to be Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES but me and my friends played the crap out of the Genesis versions as well as Joe Montana's Sports Talk Football.

Dreamcast - Virtua Tennis 2. And that's it.

Not a sporting person really.

For me it is the Genesis and PS2, gotta have my Madden (Dammit EA you money hungry bastards!) I have 3 Madden games for the PS2 and a NHL and Madden 94 game for the Genesis.

I guess it would have to be NES, but that's only because I have way more NES games than anything else.
Proportionally, I think my N64 has the most sports games.

The last baseball game i loved was baseball stars on the nes. The last football game i loved was oddly enough, football on the 2600. The last basketball game I loved was, I, uh, none as I never enjoyed the sport in game, or in real life. To answer the question is a bit difficult. The problem is, what sports are covered by the term "sports titles"? Does racing qualify? Even if it's arcade? What if it's underground racing? Basicly I hate most sports. I like racing, I like some golf games (more party, less realistic), and I like tennis. That STILL avoids answering the question though, doesnt it? Hmm, looks like I'm avoiding it. Ok, the DC has the most racing games on it, and with all the football games I got with a multi deal, its the closest. The next would be the SNES, but the games havent arived for that yet. Beyond playtesting, I doubt any of those will ever be played either.

Mine is probably the SNES, too. I may have as many baseball games on the SNES as I have total sports game on any one of my current consoles. There aren't too many SNES baseball games I don't have (though there are a few). I think I have two versions of NBA Jam (no basketball on a current console) and probably about 3 Maddens (I think I have one football game for each current console). Actually, it might be close between SNES and PS1. I might have to do an actual count there.

For me the Sega Genesis was and still is my videogame sports system of choice. I love NHL95(94,98,93 are good still too) Super Tecmo Bowl is my favourite football game. The NBA Live/Jam's are still good. If I want a baseball fix I play baseball stars on the Nes :D

mine would have to be the sega genesis. I am into sports games pretty much and that system had some of the best sporting titles I thought.

I have the most sports titles for the SNES because that is what I am mainly collecting for. I loved the Nba live series when I was younger, and I still sometimes play Nba Live 96.

Playstation...but then again, if you're going for a complete collection of a system, you have to get the crap sports games.

If not, none :)

for me it's definitely the genesis. i find more genesis games in thrifts and such than anything else, and i feel compelled to rescue complete genesis games from thrifts for $1 or $2. as far as what i actually play.... ken griffey jr baseball (the first one), and nba jam/nba jam T.E. on snes get the most play.

Genesis here too.

Every 1 dollar game I ever find seems to be a mint complete boxed genesis sports game.

Did anyone ever play them?

The PS1 has the most sports games in my collection.

tough question,

its a toss up between 2600, NES, Genesis, and Dreamcast.

though i guess the question implies which collection has the most filler, and that would narrow it down to 2600 and Dreamcast, as i will buy any game for those systems that i find in the wild. I am more judicious with Genesis and NES sports games, but I will not ignore arcade style sports games and stuff i enjoy like Golf games (which arent really the super cheap filler football/baseball/basketball/hockey games are.

I'm not sure to be honest. I bought a bunch of Dreamcast sports game becasue they were .50 each, but there couldn't be THAT many. I've got a fair amount of N64 and Saturn sports games... I'd be willing to bet the Saturn is the winner.

I'm shockingly deficent in Genny and SNES sports games.

I'm not much of a sporting gamer, either.

I've never bought a sports game to play :) It's weird, because I love to bike and play basketball, but I can't stand to play sports games.

Unless driving games count .. meh.

I have at least 20 sports games for the various older systems that I hate with a PASSION. I throw these pieces of shit in the back of the closet, they don't belong on the shelf with my decent games. The only sports games that are ever fun are ones made by Nintendo, or the Tony Hawk series...which is sadly getting rehashed yearly now.

Absolutely NONE. I don't own any sports games except Mutant League Football for the Genesis (if it counts).

Oh.. and DOA Volleyball.. if that counts.

Mostly Dreamcast, it had some really good arcade style stuff, otherwise the few older sports games that I have are on the 16bitt stuff.

At the moment I have 16 sports games out of a total of 408.

1. NES leads the way with 3 sports titles (International Cricket, Tennis and Track & Field in Barcelona)

2. Tied for second with 2 each are Mega Drive (NBA Jam and NBA Jam T.E., Master System (Great Golf and Super Tennis) and SNES (Pebble Beach Golf Links and Super International Cricket).

The rest of the consoles here have one sport game;

GBA - Air Hockey e-Reader card
PSX - Everybody's Golf
Xbox - Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball
DC - Virtua Striker 2
Lynx - Hockey
NGPC - Neo Turf Masters
N64 - Mario Golf

Any other console not mentioned doesn't have a sports title for it.

As for why I got these? Some were fun from back in the day that I still enjoy (NBA Jam, Super Int. Cricket), some came with the console (Neo Turf Masters = yay, Pebble Beach Golf Links = boo, Air Hockey = cool for 5 seconds), some are mistakes (Great Golf), some are excellent franchise tie-ins (Mario Golf, DOAXBV), some are just plain fun (Hockey, Track & Field, Virtua Striker 2, Everybody's Golf).

The rest are just meh. As a general rule, I don't like sports games - very rarely do I enjoy them.

Dreamcast....only because I had to buy bundles to get the used games that I wanted....and they were balanced by all of the sports games that no-one wanted. Dreamcast sports games are awesome though, so I don't necessarily mind.

With all the other thread bumps going on lately, I couldn't resist bumping one of my old ones.

And for me, it's still the SNES, followed by the NES.

Genesis for me to, but that because it is the only system I'll buy any game I don't have for it in my collection. I did a quick count and got a total of 83 for the genesis. I was being pretty lax on my counting too, I didn't count racing, or mutant league type sports games. I also realized I still need quite a few soccer and tennis titles. But as of now I have every madden, every ea release basketball title, every ea nhl but '97, every fifa but '96, every hardball, every sega released nfl but '98, every pga but european tour, and every rbi baseball besides rbi baseball 4. Most of that was gotten from me buying large groups of games for other titles and ending up getting 5-10 sports titles too. I even gave my extras to a local goodwill and they have been there minus one or two that have sold for probably a good year now.

I had no idea, so I used the awesome tools at RFG and counted them all up.
Genesis came in with 39, NES was second with 30, and SNES was third with 26. And that's not counting racing games, which would probably double those numbers.

About equal between NES, Genesis and SNES. Other than racing games, I haven't bought a stick and ball sports game since then. I enjoyed the earlier ones on Playstation, but beginning with the N64, they simply got too complicated and boring. Nowadays, they're just way too complicated to be worth my time.

NES - 46 of 253 games are sports

Genesis - 24 of 59 games are sports and 11 of the 24 are Hockey games :-)

nes sports games were cheap when i was mass collecting them, i think most of them are baseball and golf games
and i think the genesis had the best versions of the sports

I have about a dozen Gamecube games, all but two are sports titles.

I've got about 27-28 PS2 games, all but 3 are sports titles.

I've got close to 40 XBox games, all but 3 are sports titles.

I've got about 50 Genesis games, all but 3 are sports titles.

The few NES and Game Gear games I own are mostly sports. Same with Dreamcast. About half of my PS1 & N64 library is sports. But in my Game Boy library, I have about a dozen games and only one sports title (Play Action Football).

Is hunting a sport? How about fishing? Paintball? Bowling, biking, snowboarding, skateboarding, or surfing?
If so, I have 182 Xbox sports games.

Personally, I like the arcade type sports games. SSX is just plain fun!

SNES (surprised much?). There are lots of good sport titles on SNES IMO, including the best baseball game ever, the original Ken Griffey Jr. :)

Genesis for me... way back in the day, it was commonly known as the sports system to many people, thanks to EA and games like John Madden Football... in fact, that was the only reason why I even started collecting some sports games for it, although I still don't own any version of John Madden Football... I just thought that if it was that well known as the sports system to so many people, then I should own a few sports games to make my collection a more well-rounded one... then I figured out that I could also boost up the number of games that I owned very cheaply by collecting sports games, so I started collecting them for other systems as well... but currently I only own some sports games for just a few of my other systems, and I don't plan to buy anymore anytime soon, if ever... I think I have enough to choose from on my various systems now, without someone getting the false impression that I'm a sports nut... besides, how many different versions of all the sports in the world do you really need to be able to enjoy a video version of those sports? that's why I never understood the point of owning all the Madden games, or even all the NASCAR games, and I actually am a pretty big fan of NASCAR!

BTW, I also own alot more basketball games for my Genesis than any other kind of sports games, mostly because of all the arcadey basketball games available for it that were so popular at the time... even non-sports fans like me could get into them enough to really enjoy playing them, so I just kept buying all the variants, to reflect the fact that they were so popular at the time... I guess I just wanted my collection to acknowledge that sports games were a very popular reason for owning a Genesis, and I also wanted my collection to illustrate why that was the case, if anyone ever wondered... for some reason I always imagined myself telling people all that stuff about the Genesis, if only silently, through all the games that I chose to include in my collection... and secretly, I actually did enjoy playing some of those sports games from time to time, and pretending that I was a big sports nut... I always sucked at sports in school, so playing sports games was a way for me to finally be good at sports, and not get humiliated for sucking so bad at them... sometimes I wonder if that actually helped me in real life too, cause now I don't seem to suck quite as bad at them as I always did in school!

Either the Atari 2600 or the INTV. Those are the only ones I enjoy. Other than that I tend to generally loathe sports titles. The only exception would be for the few racing games on various systems if those count.
